Join us this Thursday, March 20th, at 12PM ET, for the next episode of "Luncheon with the Experts!" Our featured guest will be NET expert, Delphine L. Chen, MD ! Delphine L. Chen, MD, is a board-certified nuclear medicine physician at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center of the University of Washington in Seattle. She has broad expertise in PET and nuclear medicine molecular imaging diagnostic tests and specific clinical interests in cancer imaging and therapy. Dr Chen believes that molecular imaging can provide unique information about cancer behavior that can affect treatment decisions. Join us this Thursday, February 20th, at 12PM ET, for the next episode of "Luncheon with the Experts!" Our featured guests will be NET expert, Eric Liu, MD, FACS, and Heather Mauceri, RN, BSN, MHA! Dr. Eric Liu is a board-certified general surgeon with advanced sub-specialty expertise in neuroendocrine cancers. He is the Surgical Director of The Neuroendocrine Institute at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers and treats patients with neuroendocrine and carcinoid tumors. His practice encompasses all types of neuroendocrine tumors, including lung, bowel, pancreas, stomach, liver, adrenal, and many more. He sees patients both nationally and internationally. He routinely gives lectures on neuroendocrine around the country and internationally. The Neuroendocrine Institute established a new “THERANOSTICS” CENTER that offers Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT, Lutathera), Gallium and Copper DOTATATE PET/CT imaging, and nuclear clinical trials. He also works closely with collaborators around the world to provide the newest treatments. Dr. Liu will be joined by his colleague, Heather Mauceri, RN, BSN, MHA. Heather currently serves as a Neuroendocrine Nurse Clinician at The Neuroendocrine Institute at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers. She holds a Master’s in Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, alongside a strong background in critical care and chronic disease management. She is currently enrolled in the Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Colorado, furthering her commitment to advancing expert care and support for NET patients. Our featured guest will be NET expert, Namrata (Neena) Vijayvergia, MD. Dr. Namrata (“Neena”) Vijayvergia is an Associate Professor of Hematology and Oncology and Acting Chief of GI Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA. Board certified in hematology and oncology. She has a passion for neuroendocrine malignancies with research interest in developing new treatment paradigms for these cancers and improve the patient experience throughout the cancer journey. While patient care is her foremost priority, clinical research is her passion, and she has done many drug and symptoms-based research studies in neuroendocrine tumors and carcinomas. She has also gained regional and national recognition in the NET field with multiple peer-reviewed papers, collaborative work and representation on national and international committees (NCCN guidelines panel, NCI Task Force, ECOG) and was awarded 40 under 40 and Top Physicians in PA under 40. Dr. Vaghaiwalla is a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon with specialty training in the management of adult and pediatric endocrine disorders, which includes benign and cancerous disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas and intestine. Dr. Vaghaiwalla completed general surgery residency at the University of Miami and subsequently completed endocrine surgery fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She offers scarless approaches to thyroid and parathyroid surgery using the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA). Dr. Vaghaiwalla is an active member in professional societies, including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, and American College of Surgeons. She has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of endocrine and surgery. Dr. David Zhen is a medical oncologist at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center of the University of Washington School of Medicine. He specializes in treating patients with gastrointestinal cancers. His research centers around the development of clinical trials evaluating new therapies and combination approaches for the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic and gastroesophageal cancers. He is also conducting research to understand the interactions of the immune system in gastrointestinal cancers and how this can be manipulated to improve upon the response to immunotherapy drugs called checkpoint inhibitors, which block a braking system that cancers use to tamp down the immune response.
