"So how do you reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, if you're taking it out of water?" Ever wonder how CarbonBlue does what it does? Ever wished you could read more about the science guiding our operations? We've just released a new whitepaper which goes into a deep dive into our science, technology and MRV. Download it now at the link in the comments.
关于我们
The primary substance on our planet which absorbs, captures and sequesters atmospheric CO2 is water. Our technology removes CO2 from water, freeing it up to absorb more from the atmosphere, and allowing us to instantly turn any water-based infrastructure into a carbon dioxide removal facility. Our Mission Provide humanity with the technological means to create a sustainable world. Quickly, safely, and profitably. Our Solution Earth’s water sources are the most important atmospheric CO2 sink in the world. Since the industrial revolution, anthropogenic CO2 emissions have risen above the capacity of our waters to absorb them, leading to phenomena like ocean acidification, and hindering our global ecosystem’s ability to self-regulate. Our solution is to remove excess CO2 from the water and lock it away indefinitely, enhancing our planet’s ability to fight climate change by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. Our Technology: Marine Calcium Looping Our proprietary process utilizes calcium, one of the most abundant chemical elements on the planet, to mineralize, separate, and remove dissolved CO2 from water in a closed-loop system without further altering its chemical composition or balance in any way. This water can then be safely utilized, or returned to its source, while continuing to perform the crucial function of absorbing more atmospheric CO2 in both cases.

Attending #COP29 has been a true privilege. It's incredibly inspiring to see Israeli policymakers, NGO's and start-ups rising above local challenges to lead global climate action. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone behind the Israeli Pavilion and the visionary start-ups in our delegation—your work paves the way for a brighter future. ? During the delegation's kickoff at the Office of the President of the state of Israel , President Herzog's words deeply resonated: "Even in a reality of war and instability in our region, it is critically important to address climate issues and environmental matters, as they are above any dispute, crossing peoples and seas, countries and continents." These words reflect why I joined the climate space—to unite around a shared purpose and drive meaningful, global change. While addressing critical local challenges, we must also maintain a global perspective, emphasizing pathways that bring us together as a united global community. ? The climate community, especially in the carbon sphere, stands out for its collaboration and positive competition, tackling challenges together and inspiring excellence. It’s truly rewarding to see companies helping one another, making interactions productive and fulfilling. There are so many amazing people and impactful meetings from COP that I couldn’t fit them here (so please check the comments for more). ? Key Takeaways 1?? Global Collaboration The carbon markets offer immense potential for cooperation, growth, and innovation. Article 6 creates opportunities to connect the Global South's natural assets— In our case: water! lakes, rivers, and oceans — with the technologies and demand of the Global North. The future isn't about who has oil in the ground but about leveraging and preserving nature in emerging sustainable markets. ? 2?? Decarbonization vs. Carbon Dioxide Removal Both decarbonization (avoidance credits) and CDR (removal credits) are essential to achieving net-zero. Avoidance credits drive decarbonization efforts like renewable energy and carbon-neutral innovations, addressing 80% of the problem. CDR tackles the remaining 20%—a monumental challenge requiring scaling new technologies and investment to reach net zero and eventually eliminate historical emissions. Clear, distinct targets for each are critical to meeting IPCC goals and ensuring resources are allocated effectively. ? 3?? Creating Demand & Trust Stakeholders must embrace the risks of action over the costs of inaction. High-integrity projects and voluntary carbon markets are continually improving with tools like carbon ratings, registries, and robust monitoring systems. These mechanisms are essential to instill confidence, scale impactful solutions, and pave the way for a global mandatory carbon market under Article 6. ? Carbon markets are one of the most promising pathways to achieve net-zero and rehabilitate our planet. Let's continue building momentum and create a sustainable future together.

Mid- #COP29 Recap *Water-Based CDR* CarbonBlue has been busy at #Baku so far. On Thursday, we organized our first event: The Role of Water in Global Decarbonization. Hosted by AirMiners’ TITO JANKOWSKI, the panel featured CarbonBlue CEO Dr. Dan Deviri, the amazing Limenet CEO Stefano Cappello, Rewind CSO Noa Olenik and BlueGreen Water Technologies COO Oleg Tsvibel, all showcasing different approaches to decarbonization utilizing water. The event was visited by the Minister of Environmental Protection, Idit Silman, and we were glad we got the chance to convey our message: we need a robust portfolio of complementary approaches and solutions, spanning geographies and technologies, if we hope to reach our global climate goals. ? *Article 6* Walk around the summit floors and it won’t take you long to realize that Article 6 is the main event this COP. But what is it? Article 6 refers to the 6th article of the Paris Agreement, which sets out the principles for global carbon markets. While the Paris Agreement laid down the cornerstone for international carbon credit trading standards, there are still a lot of outstanding issues that need to be resolved before countries can start trade. *Integrating CDR in National Pledges* To take part in this conversation, we arranged a panel hosted by our Director of Sales, Tal Katz, on integrating CDR in national pledges, with the understanding that to reach our climate goals Article 6 will have to take CDR into account, in any scenario. This panel was a tremendous opportunity to hear from some of the world's leading experts, including Professor Graciela Chichilnisky, one of the leading negotiators at the Kyoto Accords which paved the way for the Paris Agreement, Research fellow in Net-Zero Aligned Offsetting Dr Injy Johnstone from the University of Oxford, the estimeed Gideon Behar, Israel’s Foreign Ministry’s Special Envoy for Climate Change and Sustainability, and Kel Coulson - Carbon Engineering’s Director of Policy. ? *New Carbon Economies* One of the most interesting aspects of this conversation was the huge financial potential these new international standards could offer. By removing barriers for cross-border commerce, new opportunities for the global South are created to develop critical infrastructure – particularly water assets – while providing value to the North in the form of tradable emission reduction. It is fascinating to see that some countries are already investing in becoming leaders in this emerging economy. We were particularly struck by Canada’s work in this field, and how they are seizing the opportunity offered by climate work to not just bolster the environment, but also their economy. ? *What’s Next?* Over the next few days, CarbonBlue will be attending the various events taking place around COP; if you’re here, feel free to reach out! We’re eager to see how the negotiations progress, and to provide the technological means to see our global climate resolutions carried out.
