Did you know CRC’s Carbon TerraVault has brought together over 40 diverse organizations across industries—spanning technology, academia, national labs, community groups, tribes, government, and labor—to establish the California Direct Air Capture (DAC) Hub? This will be California's first full-scale DAC plus storage network of regional hubs with the potential to provide transformative benefits to our communities. Not only does DAC plus storage capture and permanently store atmospheric CO? using low-carbon energy, but it also promises a major economic impact, with an estimated $2.9 billion in state and local economic output, approximately $390 million in state tax contributions, and local jobs. #CRC #CarbonTerraVault

Last week during CRC’s 3Q 2024 update, our Carbon TerraVault business announced the signing of an MOU to develop #CCS solutions with Hull Street Energy, LLC, a private equity firm specializing in the power sector. This is CTV's largest third-party brownfield agreement to date, with the proposed sequestration of up to 1.5 million metric ton per annum (MMTPA) of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. CTV has now 4.2 MMTPA of CCS projects under consideration. CRC is proud that the Kern County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved the conditional use permit for the Carbon TerraVault I carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. This decision follows the Kern County Planning Commission's recommendation last month and marks a key milestone in CRC’s efforts to develop California’s first carbon capture and storage project. Today’s decision is a significant step forward for Kern County and CRC in supporting energy transition in California. We are excited to announce that Colorado School of Mines (Mines) and CRC's Carbon TerraVault have been awarded $8.9 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a CarbonSAFE project in California. We look forward to working with Mines and our industry partners to bring projects to life that will reduce CO2 emissions and deliver long-term economic and environmental benefits. The grant will allow Mines, CTV, and industry to conduct a feasibility study on the CTV III CO2?Storage Project, an underground carbon storage reservoir in San Joaquin County, California. The project will store up to an expected 71 million metric tons of carbon emissions. The project will include a Community Benefits Plan that will invest in developing or expanding programs and partnerships with labor, community organizations and academic institutions that will provide transformative benefits to local communities throughout the region.
