“Spine Sorcery” In spine tumor surgery, our usual metal spine implants affect postop surveillance imaging. They also can affect the planning and delivery of #radiationtherapy. Both make it tough to beat #cancer. Carbon fiber implants like this ACDF plate and corpectomy cage from CarboFix Spine do not suffer the same limitations- on CT and MRI they do not cause scatter so recurrent or persistent tumor is easily visible. Radiation can be delivered right through them. Heads up to my distributors, I have an impactful study by Dr. John Aberham / Dr. Ryan Paul with cliff notes being emailed on Tibial allograft resections. I will be calling and discussing with everyone. ### Case Report Summary 1. **Patients and Procedure:** ??- Two patients received intercalary resections for allograft of the tibia. ??- Both patients underwent plating and nailing. 2. **Historical Success Rates:** ??- Traditional intercalary resection has a high failure rate with success rates between 70-80%. 3. **Outcomes with Carbofix:** ??- Both patients in this report experienced a 100% success rate. ??- Radiographic views showed successful healing. 4. **Comparative Healing Times:** ??- Standard metal implants typically show healing at 11 to 22 months. ??- Dr. Abraham’s review showed that CF patients achieved union at 6 months. 5. **Potential Advantages of Carbo fix:** ??- The modulus of CF implants is closer to bone, potentially contributing to faster healing. ??- CF implants may reduce time to union and lead to fewer postoperative complications. ??- Patients may regain functional outcomes more quickly. The data indicates that CF implants could revolutionize the approach to intercalary resections, significantly reducing healing time and improving success rates. This could have a substantial impact on patient recovery and overall outcomes.
