Week two of CAPSPrep began with students creating resumes and LinkedIn profiles and concluded with a Freeman Health System tour and orientation for Health Sciences students and closer look at Downtown Joplin for the Business and Human Services strands. Thank you Jeff Neal and Marriah Baker with Neal Group Construction for providing a tour of Pennington Lofts and behind-the-scences glance of the ongoing renovation next door, Doug Hunt with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce for taking the morning business strand through the Joseph Newman Innovation Center and sharing insights to becoming successful entrepreneurs, Dean Dankelson and Erik Theis, MPA, CCM at the Jasper County Courthouse for a look at the county court system and design of the new courthouse, and Autumn Zimmerman with Joplin Avenue Coffee for sharing her story of becoming a thriving downtown business and what challenges were faced along the way! Week 1 of our Professional Skills Boot Camp Speaker Series is in the books! ??? On Wednesday we connected at Conflux Co-Learning to hear from goBRANDgo! co-founders Brandon Dempsey & Derek Weber. Brandon led our associates on a goal setting exercise while weaving in personal narratives about his life as a husband | father | adventurer | entrepreneur. Derek focused on the power of establishing SMART goals and how they helped shaped his formative years as a entrepreneur & business owner. Friday our associates met at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park for the opportunity to debrief their StrengthFinders Top 5 with Dan & Mike Vincent of Kaleo Coaching. Associates learned about all 34 Strengths through immersive activities with their AM or PM session colleagues. It was a great foundational week for our Professional Skills Boot Camp and we’re so excited to have four (4) additional guest speakers lined up in September to provide professional context to: communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, networking, LinkedIn branding, and time/project management platforms. #stlcapsprogress #caps100

Our students dived deep into the world of design, learning how to create eye-catching social media graphics and dynamic presentations. The energy in the room was palpable as Mandy shared her expertise, guiding us through Canva’s powerful tools and features. Students are now buzzing with excitement to apply these skills to craft their LinkedIn banners and "About Me" Instagram posts. Thank you, Mandy, for inspiring the next generation of creative professionals!
