The numbers are clear: India's AI sector is on a tear, with Bain & Company’s projecting over 2.3 million AI job openings in India by 2027 signalling significant growth. Exciting, yes, but let's not get carried away by just the potential for growth. This phenomenal growth bumps head first into a stark reality: talent deficit north of one million skilled professionals. This situation presents a pivotal opportunity for India to reskill and upskill the world's largest youth demographic. With laser-sharp focus on equipping our workforce for this AI-driven future, India has a real shot at becoming a serious player on the global stage. Now, continuous learning must take centre stage, particularly in sectors where AI is rapidly transforming work. Investing in AI skills for our young people directly fuels India's economic future, driving our long-term growth. At Capria Ventures, our conviction in this potential is strong, and we're backing builders like Masai, who understand that true impact lies in tangible learning outcomes. The proof is in the pudding, as employers recognise the value of their graduates who are comfortable across tech platforms. Masai’s pay-after-placement model, updated with a dedicated GenAI module and a virtual interviewer, immersion programs for AI education in collaboration with leading IITs, is the kind of innovation needed to create a market-ready workforce. India’s AI story will hinge on a deep commitment to building a skilled, AI-ready workforce, and Masai School is doing its important bit. We hear a lot about the gender gap — what if we instead focus on the gender dividend? When women are fully included, societies thrive, economies grow, and everyone benefits. Gender inclusion isn’t just fairness? —? it’s smart economics. Our Managing Partner, Susana Garcia-Robles, joined global women leaders at the New York headquarters of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas for a powerful discussion on driving gender equality and getting more women into decision-making roles across Latin America and the Caribbean. Key takeaways: ?? Public-private partnerships are key drivers to achieve gender equality targets outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. ?? Latin America and the Caribbean lead globally in female entrepreneurship rates, yet there remains a significant gap in the number of established businesses led by women.? ?? Increasing women's representation in private sector leadership roles is essential, not just for equity, but also to drive innovation and growth. Thank you to CAF, Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo and Americas Society/Council of the Americas for facilitating this vital dialogue. Together, we can strengthen ecosystems that empower women and create inclusive, thriving economies. ?? Are LLM-wrapping startups truly defensible? In the rapidly evolving AI landscape, startups leveraging large language models (LLMs) are often dismissed as mere "wrappers" with no long-term advantage. But as Will Poole, Managing Partner at Capria Ventures, highlights in a recent feature in AIM, differentiation comes not just from technology, but from how startups apply AI to domain-specific problems and build proprietary data assets. A great example is 5C Network, a Capria portfolio company, which is revolutionizing medical diagnostics in India with AI-powered radiology workflows, showcasing how domain expertise, workflow optimization, and proprietary data can create a defensible AI-driven business. Argentina’s AI Moment: Talent, Opportunity, and the Road Ahead Artificial Intelligence is reshaping industries worldwide, and Argentina has the talent and technical expertise to become a global AI hub if conditions align. In a recent episode of AI Versión Humana by LA NACION, Capria Ventures' Managing Partner Susana Garcia-Robles joined leading investors, entrepreneurs, and technologists including? Adriana Tortajada, Leandro Pisaroni Gerbaldo, Mariano Mayer,? Tomas Escobar, and Rebeca Hwang to explore Argentina’s potential as an AI powerhouse. The discussion highlighted Argentina’s strengths in AI, crypto, and data science, while also tackling the structural challenges that must be addressed. Key Takeaways: ?? Argentina’s superpower is its people who are resilient, creative, and deeply skilled in AI and emerging technologies. ?? Talent is abundant, but capital isn’t since long-term investment remains a major hurdle for scaling AI-driven ventures. ?? Narrative matters because leveraging data to showcase Argentina’s AI leadership globally is key. ?? Policy and regulation need to evolve so entrepreneurs can focus on innovation instead of bureaucracy. ?? The ecosystem is strong but needs local champions who can step up and fund the next generation of AI startups. At Capria Ventures, we believe Latin America has the potential to lead in AI, and Argentina’s deep talent pool makes it a key player in this evolution. Unlocking this potential requires strategic investment, ecosystem collaboration, and a shift towards long-term growth. What do you see as Argentina’s biggest advantage or challenge in the AI era? https://lnkd.in/ddX8cMTq #ArtificialIntelligence #VentureCapital #ArgentinaTech #LatAmStartups #AIInnovation

India’s VC ecosystem has grown massively over the last decade. What was once a handful of firms is now a much bigger space with more investors, capital, and startups. But with this growth, the nature of investing has also shifted. Many newer investors—whether family offices, LPs, or individuals approach venture capital with the expectations of traditional investing. They look for quick returns and lower risk. But venture capital operates differently. More experienced investors recognise this. They back startups because they see long-term potential, not because they expect rapid returns. Venture capital needs investors with a healthy risk appetite to flourish. There will be many startups that will fail, some will coast along, but only a few who deliver dramatic outcomes. For India’s ecosystem to mature, it will need more investors who understand this and are willing to take calculated risks and back founders with patience.
