We provide a variety of transit services, including MetroBus, MetroRail, UT Shuttles, Pickup and MetroAccess, to meet the ever-growing needs of the Austin community. To serve the Austin of today and tomorrow, we’re working on Project Connect, the largest investment our region has ever made. The November 2020 voter approval of this transformative program will bring light rail service that changes the way Austinites move around the city, new MetroRapid routes that better serve East Austin and great regional service for the entire area. Excited to share my March newsletter highlighting our new Rapid Transit lines now serving Austin! Our Pleasant Valley Line and Expo Center Line are now operational, connecting the Mueller neighborhood to Goodnight Ranch and creating a vital link between East Austin and Downtown. These routes represent our evolution toward anticipating growth rather than just responding to existing demand. With Austin adding 184 people daily, these investments are crucial. Our new approach features unprecedented coordination with local stakeholders and addresses first/last mile connections through dedicated pickup services. The impact goes beyond mobility—improved transit access increases job opportunities and reduces unemployment in underserved communities.
