Today, I had the honor of participating in the official opening of Thinkery Del Valle, a fantastic new space that will inspire curiosity and learning and bring innovative learning opportunities for the students of Del Valle Independent School District and the surrounding community. Thank you Andy Bell, K.C. Barner and CM Vanessa Fuentes for your inspiring words and for all you do for our community. As part of our CapMetro Cares program, we also unveiled a special bus wrap celebrating this milestone. This colorful addition to our fleet will serve as a moving billboard for creativity and education, reminding us daily of the amazing experiences awaiting children at Thinkery Del Valle. At CapMetro, we believe our role goes beyond transportation – we're about connecting people to opportunities. This partnership with the #ThinkeryTeam is a perfect example of how transit can support education, innovation, and community growth. Celebrating Where Art Meets Transit: The Heartbeat of Austin At 80 feet long and made up of 100,000+ vibrant mosaic tiles, the 'Heartbeat of Austin' mural at the CapMetro Red Line McKalla station is officially the largest pixelated glass mural in Texas. This stunning public art installation was brought to life through the vision of J Muzacz and The Austin Mosaic Workshop, along with the effort of 200+ volunteers. It features CapMetro heroes and members of Austin FC's La Murga. CapMetro is Establishing a Transit Police Department This week, CapMetro marked a pivotal moment in our commitment to public safety with the establishment of our own Transit Police Department. This significant step forward, following extensive consultation with our customers, staff and members of our community, is designed to enhance security across our transit system through community-focused policing. While we acknowledge there is still considerable work ahead, this initiative represents a crucial advancement in our ongoing efforts to ensure passenger and staff safety.
