Congratulations to Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) inventor John Miesner who was granted U.S. Patent No. 12,211,646 B1 yesterday titled?“Linearized Pull-Pull Electromagnetic Actuators and Methods”. ??This invention describes a method for making an electromagnetic actuator that can generate a bidirectional force without a magnetic biasing field. ?Simple coil magnetic systems are not always linear, i.e. the output is not proportional to the input force across the entire range of operation.?This can be experienced as distortion in the output.?(Turn it up to 11!)?This invention describes a novel system and controller to produce an actuator with a linear output bidirectionally (think in and out). Actuators that can be finely controlled are necessary in many commercial and military systems.??#patents #innovation #DoDResearch #DoDFutures #CarderockROCKS
