The?Pittsburgh Foundation?contributed a $150,000 impact loan to Pennsylvania BRIGHT. “This solar lease program is a vital step in providing low-income families with access to solar power, helping them reduce utility costs,” said Michael Yonas, Vice President of Community Partnerships and Learning at The Pittsburgh Foundation. “It aligns with The Pittsburgh Foundation's mission to empower communities and foster economic resilience. By breaking down barriers to renewable energy, we can create a more equitable future while supporting families in achieving financial stability.”

Yesterday, we were honored to speak at City Hall for the unveiling of a new sustainability project called Solar for All. As a part of the mayor's plan for 100% clean energy by 2035, Solar for All will be another catalyst for the plan's success. Along with fellow partners such as the Office for Sustainability and Resilience, Capital Good Fund, Sunpath Solar, & Power Solutions Intl, we hope to see Solar for All become a successful venture on our journey to environmental and socioeconomic justice for all Atlanteans. Capital Good Fund is expanding affordable solar options in Southwest PA with the launch of Pennsylvania BRIGHT! Thanks to $1.15M in local funding, 100 low-to-moderate-income families in select counties can access solar and battery systems, reducing their energy costs by 20% monthly. With support from The Heinz Endowments, The Henry L. Hillman Foundation, The Pittsburgh Foundation, and BQuest Foundation, this initiative will ease the energy burden for communities who need it most. At launch, the program will be working with a growing list of trusted local installers, including EIS Solar, Envinity Inc., Elysium Solar Energy and Green Rack Solar. As we head into Climate Group #NYCClimateWeek, we want to highlight some of the work Candide Group’s newly launched Afterglow Climate Justice Fund is up to! So far, we’ve moved $7.8M to three companies: RE-volv – RE-Volv is a climate justice nonprofit that helps nonprofits in historically excluded communities across the country go solar, while raising awareness about equitable climate solutions and training the next generation of clean energy leaders. Green Energy Justice Cooperative via Blacks In Green– The purpose of Green Energy Justice Cooperative is to create energy sovereignty for Black and Brown communities everywhere by owning clean renewable energy generation and distribution that meets the needs of our communities. The Cooperative’s vision is to achieve economic, political, and educational independence for Black and Brown communities everywhere through the achievement of energy sovereignty. Georgia Bright via Capital Good Fund – Capital Good Fund is a Rhode Island-based nonprofit social change organization that uses financial services to tackle poverty and environmental injustice in America. Capital Good Fund offers solar leases, low-interest loans, and one-on-one Financial Coaching for the lower-income residents of Georgia, Rhode Island, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. This is a word-for-word response from a Good Fund client seeking a low-dollar, low-interest loan for help through a period of financial instability. We can all agree that every American should have the resources, support, and financial safety to feed their children, afford their rent, navigate health crises, receive dental care, and pay their bills. But the stark reality is many simply do not. One nonprofit, grant, or loan can't solve these issues, but I am so, so, so very proud of Capital Good Fund's staff, dignified resources, capital, kindness, and compassion for the clients we serve.
