We've been keeping downtown clean and safe since 2002. Funded by downtown property owners, our uniformed ambassadors provide a reassuring presence, keep sidewalks clean and maintain flowers and landscaping on key thoroughfares. We employ outreach specialists to engage with people experiencing homelessness. The Capital Crossroads SID also manages the Downtown C-pass Program and the Markets at Pearl.

Our Outreach Specialists work tirelessly to support unhoused community members in downtown Columbus. Over the summer, our team conducted 675 well-being checks, secured 75 IDs and birth certificates, and connected 117 people to temporary shelter or permanent housing. Officer Frank Golden retires today from the Columbus Division of Police after providing 30 years of service to the community. Officer Golden supported the Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs for over 15 years. Frank (pictured with Deputy Director of Operations Lisa Defendiefer) has been a valued special duty partner with our SID Ambassador Team and his presence will be deeply missed. We wish him the very best.

Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs thank Mayor Andrew Ginther for his continued commitment to Downtown safety expressed during his State of the City address. Our Ambassador team on bikes and Homeless Outreach Specialists operate in partnership with special duty Columbus police officers, supported by our network of property owners. Thoughtful collaboration is in our DNA and is integral in creating a safe Downtown.
Congratulations to our Executive Director, Marc Conte, for being named to the Columbus Business First 2024 Power 125 List, honoring Central Ohio’s most influential leaders. Under Marc's leadership, the Capital Crossroads and Discovery District Special Improvement Districts have implemented permanent outdoor restrooms, added robust community programming to Topiary Park and Gay Street, and continued to employ SID ambassadors to keep downtown clean and safe.
