Cell-site simulators (CSS, also known as Stingrays or IMSI catchers) are devices that masquerade as legitimate cell-phone towers, tricking phones within a certain radius into connecting to the device rather than a tower. Our new tool, Rayhunter, can help you find them.

On the Risky Business Podcast, Patrick Gray and Adam Boileau discussed the telco vulnerabilities that enabled the recent Salt Typhoon attacks. They also shared insights on how #Cape could be positioned to address these challenges. “There are a number of things in the telco world that are difficult to solve at the edge of the network—things like SS7, tracking, metadata leakage, call records… You can’t really solve [those] at the network edge.
