Last night we had the 1st Annual AIA Utah Canstruction Salt Lake City Awards Ceremony! This event brought in 24,638 cans that will be donated to the Utah Food Bank and $1,209 from the People's Choice Voting that will be split 50/50 between Utahns Against Hunger and the Utah Food Bank. AND the winners are... Canstruction Salt Lake City Build Day with AIA Utah was a huge success! The teams started unloading cans at 6:30 AM and the builds started shortly thereafter. The can-structures will be on display at 95 State, the Link to City Creek and 111 S. Main through Friday, November 22 thanks to Property Reserve and Cushman & Wakefield. We will de-canstruct the structures on the 22nd and the Utah Food Bank will pick up over 20,000 cans right in time for Thanksgiving as a result of this architectural competition. It's Canstruction Salt Lake City BUILD DAY TODAY! AIA Utah is beyond excited to bring this event to Salt Lake City. We have 7 teams who have designed structures made entirely out of cans of food. Once constructed, these will remain on display until Friday, November 22 when we will pack up more than 20,000 cans and deliver them to the Utah Food Bank. Today, cans will be unloaded at 7:00 - 9:00 AM and then the structure build happens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you have a chance, stop by 111 S. Main, 95 State and the Link to cheer on the teams as they build! Also, be sure to visit sometime in the next 2 weeks to cast your vote for People's Choice! Each vote costs $1 and will be split 50/50 between the Utah Food Bank and Utahns Against Hunger, so vote as many times as you want!
