Happening Now! The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs IT Advanced Planning Brief to Industry (#APBI) at George Mason University., with 1,400 in-person and virtual participants. ?? The size, scale, scope, and complexity of the VA is massive. To put it in perspective: ?? VA is the largest integrated US healthcare provider, supporting 9M+ Veterans. That’s bigger than the US’s largest city — New York City — with a population of ~8.3 million people. ?? 5.8M Veterans receive disability compensation through the VA. That’s 54x the capacity of the largest stadium in the country, Michigan Stadium. ?? Over 3,000 VA locations, including 132 large hospitals. The largest VA hospital, Biloxi VA Medical Center, has 700+ staffed beds. ?? 2.7 million pieces of equipment including a ginormous inventory of medical devices, all of which must be accounted for, maintained, and upgraded. ?? 904,000+ computers and 193,000+ mobile devices. Since ~ 2010, when VA implemented the Enterprise Visibility program, the Agency has had the ability to view, measure, and secure all IT assets connected to the VA network. ?? 1,000+ IT systems. That’s a LOT of IT systems! ?? 85%,of the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) workforce is comprised of contractors. Road trip was fantastic. Great weather and even better event hosted by AFCEA Greater Monmouth County, New Jersey. Well done and thank you. Deana DePaz, Sharon Fernandes, Jeffrey Downing. Key Takes: 1. Everyone wants T4NG2 protest decisions ASAP. Award it and let's go. 2. New companies to the VA space (Canopy Health, LLC, a VA T4NG2 IDIQ SDVOSB Prime, RP Professional Services, Credence Management Solutions, LLC) are prepared to make an impact. 3. Established firms (SAIC, Deloitte, CGI, Booz Allen Hamilton, Accenture Federal Services, GovCIO, General Dynamics Information Technology) will continue to drive impact and are going to need to have good SB partners. Time is valuable so when you do get meetings with them bring a list vs just discussion of 1 deal at a time (great point Robert Brotzman) 4. VA TAC continues to use GSA MAS for pro serve tasks. Expect to hear more during their APBI on June 26 at GMU in Fairfax, VA. 5. Myself (IOV Solutions), Brandon Utt (MKS2 Technologies), Michael Millett, PMP, CSM (Sierra7, Inc.) have a lot of experience winning as primes in the VA. Others I met, Stacy B., Ashling Knight (Aqua), Emily Tara Weberman (DecisionPoint Corporation) are others to watch for as each have performance in the VA. Thanks to all the great people dedicated to serving the VA for showing up and the discussions on how we can continue to bring value to the VA.
