Canopy was established in 2016 (originally named Biodiverse Carbon) to develop verified carbon credits from Greening Australia’s reforestation programs. Canopy is now one of the largest producers of carbon credits in Australia under the environmental planting methodology, and is expanding into emerging environmental credit markets like water quality and biodiversity. We believe a market-based approach can drive a level of investment in ecosystem restoration well beyond what’s been possible through traditional government and philanthropy funding models. Canopy supports business, government and private investors to take action on the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss by offering high impact nature-based solutions. We focus on restoring biodiversity, improving water quality and sequestering carbon through science-led projects that rebuild nature at a landscape scale. These scaled up nature-positive solutions simultaneously help vulnerable species, provide a new income stream for landholders and Traditional Owners, employ local contractors, and create long-term protection for restored sites. 100 hectares?in southwest Australia are being converted to native forest, in a carbon planting?that's expected to generate up to 30,000 credits over 25 years. Iluka Resources made a strategic decision?to put?a portion of their land, close to their North Capel operations,?toward this?biodiverse carbon project to meet offset requirements and create co-benefits. This year alone, over 365,000 native trees and plants were planted across 541 hectares at Glandore, a property purchased by our parent company?Greening Australia, restoring critically endangered ecosystems like Drooping Sheoak Grassy Woodland and Mallee Box Woodland. Combined with the 657 hectares planted in 2023, the area restored so far is nearly 4.5 times the size of Sydney's CBD. This multi-year project is being delivered through AstraZeneca’s AZ Forest initiative and in partnership with Greening Australia and One Tree Planted. Canopy has registered the planting at Glandore as an environmental planting carbon project with the Clean Energy Regulator, which is forecast to generate over 270,000?high integrity ACCUs?over the 25-year crediting period. With these plantings now in their maintenance phase and the first carbon credits anticipated by the end of 2024, this initiative is delivering lasting benefits for biodiversity, community, and climate resilience.

This planting at our Glandore site, on Wirangu and Nauo Country, is a great example of how Canopy designs carbon projects to maximise outcomes for nature. The first phase was planted just last year and more hectares are to be added this year; we're really happy with how it's?looking so far. This project is forecast to generate over 270,000 high integrity ACCUs over the 25-year crediting period. We're excited to announce our parent company Greening Australia's new partnership with Conscious Investment Management, which will help scale environmental planting projects.
Greening Australia and Conscious Investment Management (CIM) have announced a new partnership to acquire and restore Australian landscapes, backed by an innovative financing model. Our first investment as part of this partnership is the purchase of Dixieland, a 755-hectare property in Southern NSW. Greening Australia will act as landowner and project developer and CIM has provided financing for the project with repayments linked to the generation and sale of biodiverse environmental planting ACCUs. ? We aim to plant 140,000 native trees and shrubs on this property by 2025, enhancing biodiversity and climate resilience. The restoration will benefit woodland bird species and the critically endangered Monaro Tableland Cool Temperate Grassy Woodland. ?
