Exciting day for CannaBuffs! We hosted our first information session and “Canna Crafts” meet with an incredible turnout. It was amazing to see the creativity from our members through drawings, collages, and origami. We also shared our mission and plans for the semester’s upcoming events. Special thanks to the Tinder ambassadors for joining us with their merchandise giveaways and to Electric Honey for presenting about their upcoming music festival, which we’ll be involved in. Looking forward to more successful events and collaborations this semester!

CannaBuffs x Program Council: Weed & Wine Recently, CannaBuffs had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with CU Boulder’s Program Council for a special screening of Weed & Wine, directed by Rebecca Richman Cohen. This powerful documentary explores the parallels between generations-old winemaking families in France and pioneering cannabis cultivators in California, offering a thoughtful perspective on tradition, legacy, and craft cultivation across industries. We welcomed roughly 50 attendees to enjoy the film, engage in meaningful discussions, and, of course, indulge in a beautiful charcuterie spread At CannaBuffs, we love collaborating with other student organizations to bring fresh perspectives and important conversations to CU Boulder. A huge thank you to Program Council for helping us make this event happen, and an extra special shoutout to Kevin Jodrey and Rebecca Richman Cohen for their work in bringing this story to life.

As part of our “How It Started” interview series, we had the pleasure of chatting with Austin Hite, Co-Founder of Peelz LLC, which offers all-natural blunt wraps made from fruit. As a college football player, cannabis helped Austin relax and aid his body’s recovery, becoming a regular part of his routine. Preferring the consumption experience of smoking a blunt but wanting to move away from tobacco products, the idea that turned into Peelz hit him. At first, he used dried peels from fruit to roll up and smoke, and then started experimenting with using the entire fruit. Once he had a product he was happy with, Austin began giving them to others for feedback, laying the groundwork for what Peelz is today. ??The War on Drugs with Carol Conzelman ?? We had an incredible session with Caroline Conzelman, exploring the history and current impact of the War on Drugs through an interactive discussion. Attendees enjoyed pizza, S?ti Soda, and a special Blazy Susan giveaway. To close, Julian Gutierrez led a call to action, encouraging students to write letters in support of those incarcerated for cannabis offenses, special thanks Stephanie Shepard and Last Prisoner Project. Grateful to everyone who joined us in our mission to educate and advocate for change.

Cannabis companies listen up! It is the best time to hire this time of year. As a company you have a the best vision right now for exactly what your business is doing well and what you need to improve. As a company you have the best vision right now for the skills and abilities needed that could be transformative for your departments or your organization. There is still time to act on getting that skillset in place to start the new year. If you wait until next year to start you are likely not to get someone in the door until March / April. That is 6 more months with the same need. For some critical roles that is the difference between success and failure for your company. In cannabis 95% of all stakeholders are working the week of December 30th. It is a great week to onboard a critical hire. There is still time. If a candidate is turned off by an interview process that occurs during the months of November and December, they are going to be turned off by working in an industry where customers shop nights and weekends and plants never sleep.
