I’m excited to share CancerLINC's Gratitude Report. Supporting cancer patients has been a deeply personal journey for me, rooted in my experiences with Penn State THON?, family and friends who have battled cancer, my own journey with retinoblastoma, and now my fulfilling and inspiring days spending time with patients at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. It has been an absolute pleasure working on this report, highlighting the partnerships made throughout the past year, and remembering those we have tragically lost. I have met so many wonderful, altruistic human beings at various events, hospital partners, and nonprofit groups--most of which have turned into good friends. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, whether through time, donations, or spreading awareness. This month, we focus on raising awareness and providing support for local RVA cancer patients, particularly those affected by breast cancer. As the most common cancer diagnosis worldwide, breast cancer touches countless lives, leaving patients and their families facing a multitude of challenges. Breast cancer not only impacts the physical health of individuals but also creates emotional and psychological strains. Many patients encounter feelings of uncertainty, fear, and isolation as they navigate their journey. This is why compassionate support and community resources are so vital. At CancerLINC, we strive to be a source of hope and guidance. We offer resources to help patients understand their diagnosis, connect with healthcare providers, and access essential services. We also provide a safe space for patients and their families to share their experiences, fostering a sense of community and connection. Understanding breast cancer’s complexities, including its treatments, side effects, and the emotional toll it can take, is crucial. By sharing knowledge and fostering conversations, we aim to empower patients and their loved ones, helping them feel less alone in their journey. Join us in honoring those affected by breast cancer and in spreading awareness about its impact. Together, we can build a supportive environment where patients and families feel understood and valued as they navigate this challenging experience. In memory of Earl Cox, a dedicated supporter of CancerLINC and a friend to all. Earl once reflected, "I support CancerLINC because cancer has touched my life and the lives of loved ones in many ways. I personally know how CancerLINC services can have a huge impact on the patients that receive them." His own experiences with cancer drove his profound commitment to our mission of providing "compassionate guidance to those who need it most, at a time they've never needed it more." Earl’s compassion and tireless efforts have touched our lives and his commitment to serving the patient has had a huge impact on us all. His influence extended far beyond his role, inspiring all who had the privilege of working with him. Though he is deeply missed, Earl’s legacy of kindness and dedication, along with his patient-centric approach, will continue to resonate through the lives he significantly impacted and the work he so passionately supported.

???? Happy 28th Birthday, CancerLINC! ?? As we look back through these cherished photos, we’re reminded of the countless moments, faces, and stories that have shaped our journey. For nearly three decades, our incredible community has come together to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. CancerLINC was formed in 1996 by two local attorneys, Phyllis Katz and Ann Hodges (both cancer survivors), when they realized a need exists to help patients experiencing non-medical issues related to cancer diagnoses and treatment. Over the last 28 years, it is estimated that more than 10,000 patients and their families have received assistance from CancerLINC. From the early days of hope and dedication to the vibrant network of support we have today, every step has been a testament to our shared strength and compassion. Thank you to all the members, volunteers, and supporters who have walked this path with us and made such a profound difference.
