"I successfully appealed a prior authorization denial thanks to the resources and data provided at a recent online conference. Hearing that information made it much less daunting to write my appeal. My insurance now covers the medication I need. Thank you so much for what you do." -Annmarie, cancer patient Do you have questions about health insurance? Appealing denials? • "Do the Right Thing"—and Show Up for the Right Conversations! This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending Delivering Democracy: A Dynamic Dialogue with the legendary Spike Lee—actor, producer, professor, and all-around truth-teller. The conversation was real, raw, and refreshingly unscripted, with Spike serving up wisdom like a seasoned storyteller—truth on one plate, humor on the side. It was a good day, filled with good company, deep insights, and the kind of dialogue that makes you think, laugh, and maybe even rethink. Grateful for the invite, the experience, and the reminder that the right conversations matter. Because in the words of Spike himself—always Do the Right Thing!

Bipartisan legislation introduced to eliminate financial barriers for prostate cancer screening! The PSA Screening for HIM Act would ensure men at an increased risk of developing prostate cancer can be screened, waiving deductibles, copayments and coinsurance. This important step ensures that early detection is accessible to those who need it most, with nearly 100% survival rates for cancers caught early. Thank you to Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D., Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., Rep. Troy A. Carter, and all supporters of this critical legislation. Together, we are making great strides to improve access to life-saving screenings for those who need it most! ?? #ProstateCancer #HealthEquity #PSAScreening #ProstateCancerAwareness #SaveLives #BipartisanSupport

  • Wow !!! We had such an incredible, eye-opening conversation at Real Talk: A Conversation About Prostate Cancer—where no topic was off-limits, and great questions were raised. Understanding your family history and genetic risks can be the difference between early detection and late-stage diagnosis. Early screening saves lives! From urologists to oncologists, radiation therapists to geneticists to researchers, having the right team ensures the best treatment decisions for your journey. Hearing firsthand from survivors reinforced the importance of self-advocacy, regular screenings, and support networks. No one should go through a diagnosis alone. A huge thank you to our panel: a geneticist, an oncologist, a urologist, a research professor, a radiation therapist, dedicated advocates, and inspiring survivors. Your expertise and personal experiences provided valuable insight from every angle of the prostate cancer journey. To everyone who attended—thank you for showing up, engaging, and making prostate cancer awareness a priority. Let’s keep the conversation going! #ProstateCancerAwareness #RealTalk #ScreeningSavesLives #CancerMatters

Have you ever received Needs Navigation assistance? Let us know in the comments! Based on what we heard in our last Policy Consortium, Needs Navigation assistance was the most widely reported aspect of a healthcare system that works. Needs Navigation provides hands-on support for patients and caregivers to find and use resources that address their essential needs. It aims to ease concerns about costs and helps secure access to safety net services and similar programs. It is provided by people skilled in communication and care coordination who help patients find and access the resources and care they need. That’s why it is the central focus of our new advocacy era. Save the date for our next Policy Consortium, March 12, 2025, which will focus on highlighting the key role of navigators and the unique skills they have to ensure quality navigation services are always provided to patients. #Healthcare #GetInformed #PatientRights #NPAF #Policy #HealthcarePolicy #HealthAdvocacy #HealthPolicy #NPAFCommunity #PatientAdvocacy #HealthcareInnovation #PublicHealth #HealthEquity #CommunityHealth #NPAF #PatientSupport #PatientEmpowerment #CareCoordination #HealthResources

  • I write to honor you—the hands, hearts, and souls behind the food that nourishes us all. It is in the quiet hours, as the world still sleeps, that your dedication begins. From 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., I had the privilege of meeting/screening many of you, standing shoulder-to-shoulder in appreciation, while you prepared for your day or returned from the fields, tools in hand, faces etched with the lines of a lifetime of labor. I gained a newfound respect for your tireless work and the important role you play in our lives. You are the heartbeat of our food system, and for that, I say thank you, thank you, thank you to the farmworkers that put food on our tables. #CancerMatters #ScreeningSavesLives
