Canals & Trails Credit Union

Canals & Trails Credit Union was established in 1959 and was originally known as Lockport School Credit Union. As the community of Lockport grew and the population expanded, Lockport Schools Credit Union changed its name to Tri-Township Schools Federal Credit Union. Besides serving school districts in Lockport, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Homer Glen, Mokena, New Lenox, Orland Park, Lemont, and Plainfield, the credit union can also serve many local businesses and government groups. In 2002, our credit union underwent a significant change in our field membership. In order to grow and thrive in the future, we converted from a federal charter credit union to a state charter, and eventually, a community charter credit union. This change allowed us to serve members working or living in those communities. A merger between the Romeoville Community Credit Union and Canals & Trails Credit Union occurred in 2022. Canals & Trails Credit Union could expand thanks to the merger and give members access to branches in Romeoville and Lockport.
