Our 3 summer interns from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, hired via Campus Greensboro shared the results of their 10-week, fully paid summer internship with Greensboro Parks and Recreation employees this morning. They built a dashboard?that aggregates all kinds of data about the department's Rec Centers.?Click here to check it out:?https://gigsgso.com/ And they built a survey platform that collects demographic data to plug in gaps of information. We're excited to continue this partnership with the Parks & Rec department, as we plan to hire new interns to further enhance this project every summer.

We're so proud of our Summer 2024 Talent Programs Intern, Mykaila Brown!
This past summer I joined Campus Greensboro as one of their Talent Programs interns alongside Ashley Oliva. It was truly an incredible journey! During this time, I had the opportunity to connect with my fellow peers through various professional development opportunities and engage in initiatives that support the growth of Greensboro's talent pipeline. Amongst one of my memorable moments was engaging in the two-day leadership training. It focuses on finding out who you are as a leader, how your brain can limit you from your full potential, and a variety of opportunities for personal development and growth. During my time here, I was charged with ensuring that information was communicated to our fellows in ways that would keep them engaged, while also showcasing their talents through introductory videos. I took the lead in crafting content that highlighted each fellow's unique strengths and experiences, fostering a sense of community and connection among the cohort. This role allowed me to further develop my skills in digital communication, video production, and storytelling, while also enhancing my ability to engage diverse audiences through creative and impactful messaging. Through this internship, I was fortunate to be paired with Dr.Tonya Smith-Jackson, the provost at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Working with Dr. Smith-Jackson provided me with invaluable insights into higher education leadership, strategic planning, and diversity initiatives. Her mentorship played a pivotal role in helping me refine my own leadership style and deepened my understanding of how to drive meaningful change within educational and nonprofit sectors. This internship deepened my passion for community development and nonprofit work, reinforcing my commitment to creating lasting, equitable opportunities for emerging talent. I would like to thank Campus Greensboro for allowing me to be part of such a transformative experience, and a special thanks to Ashley Oliva and the entire Action Greensboro team (Sarah K. McGuire, Candace Martin, M.A., Mary-Helen Kolousek, Bramley Crisco and Cecelia Thompson) for their support and mentorship throughout the summer. Your guidance not only helped me grow professionally but also inspired me to continue pursuing my passion for nonprofit work and community development. I'm grateful for the skills I’ve gained, the relationships I’ve built, and the lasting impact this internship has had on my career journey.?
