You need a north star to stay disciplined and motivated when you work. Why do you do the things that you do? What are you trying to achieve? Let’s be real—there are those days when you don't feel like working. We’ve all been there. So, what keeps you going on those tough days? For me, it’s my north star: helping people. Your north star is your deeper purpose, the reason behind why you do what you do every single day. For me, creating educational content that helps others learn and grow is my way of contributing to that mission. Why is having a north star so important? When you have a clear, long-term purpose, it gives meaning to those small, everyday tasks that might otherwise feel boring or draining. Even on the days when motivation is nowhere to be found, your north star reminds you why you started. For me, I know that every video I make or lesson I teach brings me one step closer to my goal of helping as many people as I can. It’s a lifelong mission. Even when I’m 80, I want to keep teaching, sharing, and helping others improve their lives—just on a bigger scale. Your north star can be anything. Maybe it’s creating something, making a difference in your community, or achieving a certain level of success. Once you identify it, everything shifts. You start working with more intention, knowing that each effort moves you toward something greater. Find your north star. It’ll be your guide when motivation fades. When you have a purpose bigger than yourself, the hard work feels like progress.

The Big 5 Personality Test can help you find you ideal career. Struggling to find a job that feels like the right fit? By understanding your natural traits—Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism—you can align yourself with a career where you’ll truly thrive. The best way to remember these traits is by the acronym OCEAN. Here’s how it works: Openness: If you’re creative, curious, and thrive on new experiences, you’re high in openness. You’ll feel most engaged in roles where you can innovate and explore new ideas—think marketing, design, or working at a fast-paced tech startup. You want a job that constantly challenges you and gives you space to think outside the box. Conscientiousness: Are you organized, disciplined, and love having a plan? That’s conscientiousness. If this sounds like you, look for jobs that require structure, attention to detail, and careful execution. Careers in project management, finance, or operations are great fits, where every day brings order and predictability. Extraversion: If you’re an extrovert, you gain energy from being around people. You’ll thrive in roles that involve a lot of interaction, whether that’s working in sales, team leadership, or public relations. These roles let you engage with others, collaborate, and bring your social skills to the forefront. Agreeableness: Highly agreeable people value empathy, cooperation, and working in harmony with others. If this is you, you’ll excel in jobs that involve helping and supporting others, such as healthcare, teaching, or HR. These environments allow you to use your natural ability to connect with people and create positive outcomes. Neuroticism: If you score high in neuroticism, you might be more sensitive to stress, but you also value stability and security. You’ll want to look for roles that offer a calm, predictable environment where you can manage stress and stay grounded. Administration, support roles, or research positions often provide that kind of stability. Most people never understand who they are and how they work. This framework can be a powerful tool in your job search. By understanding where you fall on each of these five traits, you’ll have a clearer sense of what types of environments and roles are right for you.

Three years ago, my dream was crystal clear: move to the U.S. with Nike, work in New York, and play a role in shaping sneaker culture with Jordan. I was all in— New York, sales, marketing, basketball culture, you name it. That was my goal. Fast forward to today: I quit my job at Nike. Instead of chasing that original dream, I chose to start a business. If you had told me three years ago that I’d leave Nike to pursue entrepreneurship, I would’ve laughed. That version of me couldn’t have imagined it. But here I am, chasing a new vision that’s just as exciting—maybe even more. Goals change. The path you think you're on today might look completely different tomorrow. Sometimes, life presents you with opportunities you never expected, and they turn out to be even better. Your goals will evolve and morph into something new. Embrace the journey.

Imagine having an interview coach available 24/7. That’s exactly what GPT’s voice features can do for you. Here’s how I used AI to practice and perfect my interview skills. 1. Set up a mock interview. I used GPT to replicate a scenario where I was interviewing for a Senior Account Executive position at Google. GPT played the role of the interviewer while I acted as the interviewee. 2. Practiced answering in a realistic setting. I gave a basic answer to start: "I've been working at Nike for the past three years in sales positions. Before that, I was at FedEx in a similar role." The goal was to see how GPT would critique my response. 3. Received immediate, actionable feedback. GPT didn’t just accept my answer—it challenged me: "It sounds like you've had solid experience in sales. Could you elaborate more on your key achievements and responsibilities in these roles? How have these experiences prepared you for the senior account executive position at Google?" This feedback pushed me to think deeper and refine my answers on the spot. 4. Improved my interview skills in real-time. By using GPT to simulate real interview scenarios, I was able to practice, adjust, and perfect my responses—all without needing a human interviewer. Don’t underestimate the power of AI in your job search. Just a couple of years ago, none of this was possible. If you’re preparing for an interview, try using AI as your practice partner. You’ll be surprised at how much it can help you improve.

I networked my way into my dream job at Nike. Here’s exactly how I did it. Getting into Nike was never about crafting the best resume. It started with a curiosity to understand what the world of sales looked like at Nike. Here’s the exact message I sent that opened the door: 1. I sent a personalized connection request to directors at Nike after typing in "nike sales" in the LinkedIn search bar. One of the very first people to respond to me was a Nike Sales Director in New York. 2. I crafted a value-driven message. I introduced myself, let her know the reason why I was reaching out, and shared my passion for the brand. 3. Made it easy for her to say yes. I understood her time was valuable, so I offered flexibility: "If I can work around your schedule, could we have a short 15-minute call over Zoom? I’m very flexible. If it’s 6 a.m., count me in because your time would be invaluable to me." 4. Showed genuine enthusiasm and respect. My message was sincere, respectful of her time, and driven by a genuine desire to learn. The result? A 1.5h conversation that led me to my dream job at Nike. She was able to connect me with various people within her Nike network following our call. And before I knew it, I was having informational interviews with Nike employees globally. One of the people that I spoke with ended up connecting me with the President of Nike Canada. The rest is history. Prior to this experience, I had never networked by sending a cold message on LinkedIn. People want to help. All you have to do is ask. PS: If you’re looking to make a similar pivot, focus on building genuine connections. Create opportunities for yourself by putting yourself out there. ?? Repost this if you found it helpful.
