At our 17th annual Our Hearts to Your Soles event, Campbell Clinic foot and ankle specialists provided individualized foot and nail care, socks, new shoes and care packages to more than 100 clients at Memphis Union Mission! Proper foot care is an essential part of a person’s wellness and should be accessible to everyone. From AAHKS to Ankles: What distinguishes a Campbell Orthopaedic Surgeon? Chances are, they’re also a teacher. In the last week alone, Campbell surgeons Chris Holland, MD and William Mihalko , MD along with CCF research senior manager Margaret Knack, shared their expertise with fellow hip and knee surgeons at the American Academy of Hip & Knee Surgeons annual meeting. Work hard, play (golf) hard! After a few years hiatus, the Campbell Resident- Faculty Golf Outing is back and better than ever. Everyone gathered November 2 at Galloway for a morning of friendly competition, then later gathered at. Dr. DaBov’s home with friends and family. Only a couple months until Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics moves into its new Collierville home!

On Friday, November 1, the Campbell Clinic Foundation hosted its first Orthopaedic Exploration Day with 15 MDs and 25 healthcare professionals and industry partners to introduce high school students to the fascinating world of orthopaedics. More than 80 kids, representing White Station and Collierville High Schools participated. Their words best capture the experience: “I enjoyed each of the stations; there was something to learn from each professional and it was just eye opening to see the technology used everyday to care for others.” “I’m just so thankful that God had given me the opportunity to learn about a field I am interested in and meet all the the doctors. They were so welcoming and kind to me, and I was not afraid to ask them questions!” This how we #movelives ! Family and friends, from near and (very) far, gathered last week to celebrate the life and legacy of Kay C. Daugherty, who served the CCF from 1978-2021. Kay was so much more than a librarian and editor; she was a mentor, a guide, a force of nature. The Kay C. Daugherty Center of Orthopaedic Education both honors her impact on the Campbell and orthopaedic community worldwide as well as celebrates her immense contributions, including playing a role in NINE editions of Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics. No photos can capture the joy and warmth felt among those present, both in-person and Zoom. Rest well, Kay. You are missed and loved. For 100 years, surgeon education has been the cornerstone of the Campbell Clinic Foundation. Tomorrow, we’re excited to host Orthopaedic Exploration Day to connect STEM and health-care minded students from White Station High School and Collierville High School with local orthopaedic surgeons, residents in training and representatives from medical technology companies. Through this exploration day, our goal is to engage all students – no matter their gender, race or background – so they can more deeply explore the possibilities available in orthopaedic medicine and build connections early and throughout their education journey.
