The Campaign for Wool was launched in 2010 to educate consumers about the benefits of wool and help to support and grow the wool industry. Run by a coalition of industry groups convened by His Majesty King Charles III, when he was Prince of Wales, the Campaign works to engage consumers through exciting fashion, interiors, artisan and design lead activities centering around Wool Week each year.

    ‘Making It’ We see the passion Francis Paley exudes in tailoring, an ambition that started to become a bespoke tailor in his teens and since his apprenticeship, training with Joe Morgan at Chittleborough and Morgan, Francis now has his own tailoring label.     ‘Making It’ - Emily Hayward works at Anderson and Sheppard, the prestigious bespoke Savile Row tailoring house that holds the Royal Warrant of Appointment for the Campaign for Wool Patron HM King Charles III. After carrying out her training and building her own reputation as a Coat Maker over the last 13 years, Emily continues to honour the well-known Anderson & Sheppard House Style whilst being able to work on exciting collaborative Anderson & Sheppard projects such as the Wales Bonner runway shows in Paris. Emily is now passing on her skills and tailoring knowledge to her own apprentice Connie who is embarking on the 4 to 5 years of bespoke training. ‘Making It’ series in collaboration with ?Vitale Barberis Canonico

    The first tailor we are featuring in the ‘Making It’ series with Vitale Barberis Canonico Nicholas Simon Tailoring. Savile Row trained he is now based in Northampton using his skills and experience learnt on Savile Row. With a passion for architecture, he found the transformation of a 2-D cloth into a 3-D shape on a body mesmerising. Passionate about yoga and meditation, the Nicholas Simon Tailoring experience is not only about purchasing, discovering the journey of cloth, tailoring and the making of a bespoke suit, Nicholas also believes in creating a place for men to talk to each other, share life experiences and for tackling mental health issues.

    October marks #WoolMonth.??? The message for 2024 focuses on wool’s natural properties and benefits.     For Wool Month we have collaborated with?Vitale Barberis Canonico?in ‘Making It’, a project following the journey of five tailors and their making of creative and individual bespoke pieces using sustainable Australian Merino wool cloths from the historical woollen mill. The tailors visited Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella and experienced the state of the art machinery and cloth production before making their selection for their bespoke pieces. Collectively sharing the passion for craftsmanship, bespoke, sustainability and wool. The first film of the series featuring Francesco Barberis Canonico, who is 13th generation of the 360 year old family mill, sharing his vision for the future of tailoring.

    Navygrey have taken an exciting step into creating their own bespoke yarn using Cheviot, Masham, and Bluefaced Leicester wool sourced exclusively from British farms. Launching its limited-edition ‘Locally Grown’ collection coincides with Navygrey WOOL SHOP, a pop-up which is open during #WoolMonth until 17 October in Notting Hill. "At Navygrey, we knew there was a gap in the market for the type of wool we wanted to use—soft, durable, and authentically British," says Rachel Carvell-Spedding, Founder of Navygrey.

    Historically at Hackett teddy bears have been handmade in England from exclusive tweeds that were designed to honour such occasions as The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and The Diamond Jubilee. This year Jeremy Hackett thought it would be fitting to celebrate and promote Wool Month by producing a limited edition of bears from the Townhouse Tweed, woven in Scotland by Lovat Mill. There are 14 bears that retail from 14 Savile Row and a fabulous large bear that is planned to be auctioned off at a later date with the proceeds going to charity. CHECK IT’S WOOL #ChooseWool
