ICE sweeps and raids for undocumented immigrants have become a larger threat to our communities in the past weeks. Though the intent of their actions as deliberated by the new administration is to stoke a sense of shock and awe, there are still very legal and effective measures you can take to protect and assist your community members.? ? Here are a list of actions and resources for community care leaders to consider in response to the recent ICE raids, courtesy of the expert panel from our March 20 webinar:? ? ?? stephen manning, Executive Director, Innovation Law Lab? ?? Victoria Martinez, CEO, Spanish Community Center? ?? Gabily G., Founder, Cerrando la Brecha?? ?? Congratulations to our team of CEO Kathleen Noonan, Pledge to Connect Program Manager Lisa Mojica, and Housing First participant Craig Cress on their testimonies to the New Jersey State Assembly Budget Committee this afternoon! Kathleen, Lisa, and Craig spoke on behalf of the Housing First and Pledge to Connect programs — a pair of Camden Coalition programs that provide stable housing and connection to behavioral healthcare, respectively, to our region’s most vulnerable residents.? ? We’d also like to thank the budget committee for inviting us to speak on the benefit and cost-effectiveness of these programs in Trenton today. As the state works toward a finalized FY2026 budget later this year, we will continue to advocate for funding to support the vital work being done through Housing First and Pledge to Connect.
