Congratulations to our team of CEO Kathleen Noonan, Pledge to Connect Program Manager Lisa Mojica, and Housing First participant Craig Cress on their testimonies to the New Jersey State Assembly Budget Committee this afternoon! Kathleen, Lisa, and Craig spoke on behalf of the Housing First and Pledge to Connect programs — a pair of Camden Coalition programs that provide stable housing and connection to behavioral healthcare, respectively, to our region’s most vulnerable residents.? ? We’d also like to thank the budget committee for inviting us to speak on the benefit and cost-effectiveness of these programs in Trenton today. As the state works toward a finalized FY2026 budget later this year, we will continue to advocate for funding to support the vital work being done through Housing First and Pledge to Connect.

The proposed New Jersey budget for FY2026 does not currently include funding to support the wraparound services for our Housing First program participants, nor the Pledge to Connect program that connects emergency patients to ongoing mental health and addiction care — breaking from a years-long collaboration between the Camden Coalition and the Governor’s office to support individuals with complex care needs through dependable housing and care connection supports. Though we’re disappointed by this initial decision from the Governor’s office, we’ve only just begun to make the case for the benefit and value of Housing First and Pledge to Connect as state-supported services. A panel representing the Camden Coalition will be in Trenton this afternoon to provide testimony on behalf of our programs to the State Assembly Budget Committee. Our team of CEO Kathleen Noonan, Pledge to Connect Program Specialist Lisa Mojica, and a Housing First participant will each share statements supporting the continued funding of these programs through 2026 and beyond, as well as literature and resources on the cost-benefit of these programs for the state committee to review. You can support our team in Trenton today by tuning in to the budget committee hearing live stream this afternoon, beginning at 12:30 PM ET. Watch the live stream here: https://lnkd.in/eTWyZEf7 If you’re interested in learning more about the programs in question, you can visit the links to our website below. We will be sharing more awareness-building resources, opportunities to share your support for Housing First and Pledge to Connect — and hopefully, good news on our efforts — in the coming months.
