Happy Women's History Month! In honor of this month, female surgeons from our general surgery and OB/GYN departments recreated the striking image of four female surgeons in surgical masks from a 2017 cover of The New Yorker magazine. This month, help us celebrate all the women working at CHA, and their expertise and dedication to patient care!

On Friday, March 14, CHA participated in the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians Annual Meeting and Spring Refresher. CHA physicians and staff collaborated with colleagues from other organizations to give a presentation entitled Strategies to Support Immigrant Health Needs in a Time of Crisis. The presentation brought together a group with diverse expertise to outline the ways in which family physicians can influence their institutions to make healthcare safer to access for immigrants and equip themselves to offer the most robust community resources possible to vulnerable patients seen in the clinical setting.

Yesterday we were honored to host Congresswoman Katherine Clark at the CHA Malden Care Center as part of a national day of action to protect Medicaid from federal cuts. Democratic Whip Clark, Mass. Health and Human Services Secretary Kate Walsh, and CHA CEO Assaad Sayah MD, took part in a compelling discussion with our patients and providers on how Medicaid is critical to our mission to care for all and two million Mass. residents. Leading the fight against proposed federal budget cuts to Medicaid, Congresswoman Clark said, “CHA is an extraordinary organization where people can be treated with trust, and it is just an irreplaceable resource,.You help me make the case in Washington that these aren’t just numbers on a page. Your stories help us translate what this would mean to people.” Thank you to Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, State Representatives Paul Donato, Steve Ultrino, Kate Lipper-Garabedian, and Emily Dulong, VP of government advocacy and public policy at the Mass. It's Certified Nurses Day, an annual day of recognition for and by healthcare leaders dedicated to nursing professionalism, excellence, recognition, and service. Happy GI Nurses and Associates Week! Patients and their loved ones rely on the skills, knowledge, and expertise of registered GI nurses and associates to care for them before, during, and after their procedure. The team assesses individual patients' needs to make sure they are comfortable and safe during their procedure and recovering from sedation, along with developing, implementing, and continuously evaluating a plan for the patient's care and preparing the room and patient for their procedure. The Children’s Health Initiative is looking for an experienced child and adolescent clinician interested in applied clinical research to join our multi-year child mental health equity grant study. We are studying the cost effectiveness of intervening earlier to support youth and families struggling with barriers to accessing mental health care, particularly in situations involving childhood trauma, mental health disorders, and substance use.
