I think that the California Tower Team has one up on the US Post Office, neither rain, sleet or snow will keep us from building the new Tower. It's great to see the progress, the mat will be placed in March and steel comes in the Summer. We are rockin it!! Is the construction innovation that you are seeing fake or real? It can be very hard to tell these days especially when there are 1000s of start-ups in the construction technology space. How do we filter out the real from the fake innovation? Very simple. 1. We need to see how it affects the design and construction. 2. We need to spotlight innovation as it is taking place in the field. 3. We need to show real users and have the founders share their story. 4. We need to see the product being used and validate that it does produce value. 5. We need to tell the innovation story in a compelling way that encourages people to watch, learn, and deploy. This is an important problem that the Center for Innovation is tackling now because as there are a lot more innovation, there is also a lot more smoke and mirrors. Sometimes really good ideas get lost in the cracks. Sometimes truly innovative products never get adopted because people don't know about them. Sometimes vaporware product end up wasting time and money that should have been allocated to real value added products. With so many options in terms of contech these days, the problem becomes validating if the solution works and selecting among all the products to choose the right mix to use. The CFI will make this easier for the industry by being a pre-filter for innovation. Through a validation process and highlight only innovations that have passed the "smell test", we can develop a more efficient buying process for contech. We will allow more projects to adopt technology by de-risking it. We will allow for more innovative contech companies to thrive and gain traction faster. If you are a contech founder and believe that you have a "true innovation", please reach out. #realauthenticinnovation #contech #VDC #industrializedconstruction Dean Reed Margie O'Driscoll, Hon. I can’t believe it’s already been three years working on this amazing campus project!
Here’s a fun, visual update on the construction of the new campus for the Walmart Home Office. I took these shots today to showcase just how close the campus is to being complete. I know a few of the buildings are even operational, with the Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness being active for a while now. Once complete, the campus will be home to a variety of lakes for water management, a childcare facility, workout center, a hotel (on the campus), a food hall, food trucks, coffee areas with coffee served from a variety of local roasters, WiFi-enabled outdoor spaces, bike trails, 300 EV charging stations, and so much more. This video was edited and shot by Larry Fleury, abiding by the UAS rules mentioned by the FAA. I am certified under the Part 107 licensing for unmanned aircraft.

Take a peek behind the California Tower construction fence at UC Davis Health! The pictures below show the current progress excavation teams are making as they ready the site for the foundation and superstructure. They are digging deep into the earth (eventually down 30 feet), clearing the way for basement construction. The California Tower project?will include a 14-story hospital tower and a 5-story pavilion that will deliver superior care for Northern Californians and adapt to meet the community's evolving needs.
