This Veterans Day, we celebrate and honor all who have served, including our Cambium team members who dedicated themselves to defending our country. Nicholas Madren shared some great photos and this reflection: “Veterans Day is an opportunity to reflect on those who served and celebrate the parts of America that make it worth serving. I count myself fortunate to have served in the Navy, as part of one of the highest performing teams in the world, a carrier air wing, deploying in defense of our country. I feel lucky now to have landed at Cambium, joining another high-performing team dedicated to America’s defense through materials innovation.” Nicholas Parker, reminds us of the importance of supporting families as well: “Don’t forget about the families. Veterans and active military members volunteered for the hazardous life they live—not to say it doesn’t sometimes exceed expectations in painful ways—but their families don’t get the training and often aren’t aware of the resources or reasons behind it all. A community of support must include them too.” Thank you to all veterans and their families. We are deeply grateful for your service, sacrifice, and commitment.

2 years ago, Cambium relocated its HQ to El Segundo, subleasing a space in the Smoky Hollow district. We have grown to love the vibe of “Gundo” with its vibrant start-up community of hardware and tech innovators and the tremendous support of the City of El Segundo. When we decided to significantly increase our footprint, it was a no-brainer to double-down on our commitment to the city. Yesterday Mayor Drew Boyles officially opened our new 25,000 square feet facility in the iconic former Wyle Lab building with the city’s council members in attendance. With our old space now occupied by two new start-ups! El Segundo is the ideal location to execute Cambium’s vision: securing America’s leadership in defense through advanced material innovation. With the city’s deep-rooted aerospace heritage, proximity to key defense contractors, and a flourishing ecosystem of startups – it’s perfect place for the kind of breakthrough innovations America desperately needs. I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mayor Drew for his incredible leadership in building the city into a vibrant hub for innovation. His vision and experience as a fellow business owner has created an environment where companies like ours can not only succeed but thrive. I have had the great fortune over the past 3 decades, as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist, to have worked and invested in some of the world’s leading innovation hubs: the San Francisco Bay Area, Cambridge (both US and UK), Munich and Tel Aviv. El Segundo has the feeling it’s going to be the next one. The collaboration between the City of El Segundo, industry and small startups is a perfect example of how to build a thriving ecosystem.
