Cambiar Catalyst has always been committed to identifying new ways of operating in order to get new, and hopefully improved, outcomes for students. The opportunity to partner with the Bay Ed Fund to launch The Bay Catalyst Fellowship is our latest attempt to support more leaders in building community while thinking differently about how to identify solutions to some of the most intractable challenges in K12 education. Porsche Chisley, Ed.D. (’21), an alum of the Catalyst Fellowship, will be serving as a Catalyst Coach for the 2024 cohort! Porsche has served in many systems leadership roles where she has supported early learning, school improvement, school turnaround and innovation, and data analytics. For the past eight years, Porsche has coached and mentored school leaders and executives. She has deepened her expertise through her doctoral studies, focusing on the use of appreciative inquiry to sustain and empower Black women in nonprofit leadership. Porsche’s experience as a coach and her empathetic approach to the work will be an asset to the 2024 cohort. We are very excited to have her as a coach. Dr. Ian Buchanan (’14), an alum of the Catalyst Fellowship, is returning for a second year as a Catalyst Coach for the 2024 cohort! Ian brings with him years of systems leadership and coaching experience. Before launching Nia Education Group, he served as Chief Academic Officer for the School District of University City where during his tenure the district saw its highest state growth in math and literacy. In his current work he supports school systems, for profit and nonprofit organizations in a number of ways including coaching. As a coach, Ian is dedicated to creating spaces that allow individuals to be courageous and build the skillset needed to be impactful leaders. A 2023 fellow said this about Ian’s coaching: “Ian gets it! He’s a great listener, he’s empathetic, and he’s supportive.
