?? Exciting news! 25% of California's lands have successfully been preserved! This week, California Governor, Gavin Newsom, shared the incredible progress made towards the 30x30 commitment, which aims to protect 30% of our state's lands and coastal waters by 2030. This is a major milestone and a huge step towards ensuring the preservation of our natural resources for future generations! “In 2020, I signed an?executive order?to conserve 30% of lands and 30% of coastal waters in California by 2030,” Newsom said in a statement. “And four years into this effort, we’re on track to achieve this target, with over a quarter of our lands protected. We won’t stop working to protect California’s unparalleled natural beauty for generations to come.” The progress made is truly remarkable, and it is thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved. It is heartwarming to see the dedication and commitment to preserving our natural landscapes and wildlife habitats for the benefit of current and future generations. ?? From Caltrans District 8 - San Bernardino/Riverside Counties. Emergency response is no joke, and we are truly honored to work with some amazing partner agencies. Many don’t understand our role as a first responder, and while we may not be like some of our counterparts, we are just as important. Crews all across our district have been supporting others to help save homes, businesses, and lives. We have a number of events that happen in our district, and right now with three different fires, it is no exception. We are here to help support others on items they need, while also trying to maintain our infrastructure. Working on a highway is like working on your car while it’s still running. Check out these great shots of the A13 at Route 36 Safety Project in Caltrans District 2, Plumas County! This safety project aims to reduce the frequency and severity of car crashes at this intersection through design improvements. Traffic collisions at this intersection occur at a higher-than-average rate for similar intersections. Crews are wrapping up construction on the new roundabout and finishing up touches to the landscaping. ?? Exciting news from Caltrans District 9! The installation of two wildlife crossings under U.S. 395 is already happening in northern Mono County as part of the Sonora Junction Shoulders Project. These projects will provide safe and sustainable passage for mule deer and other area wildlife. ?? This is a big step towards protecting our local wildlife and promoting safer travel for all.
