This event will bring together over 500 students from more than 50 universities to showcase their engineering projects and skills, network with industry professionals, and compete in the society-wide championships. ? Students will participate in civil engineering competitions such as Concrete Canoe, Sustainable Solutions, UESI Surveying, and Timber-Strong Design Build. Winning universities from 20+ regional competitions will come to Cal Poly to compete for society-wide titles! What an incredible summer at Kiewit! I am extremely thankful for this experience as a Structural Engineer Intern and for the amazing people I got to meet. I enjoyed gaining hands-on experience drafting engineering plans, designing and analyzing precast box culverts and girders, and performing hand calculations for reinforcement in bridge structures. I also participated in quality control processes, redlined engineering plans, and revised calculation spreadsheets. Additionally, I completed training in Civil and Concrete Essentials, among other trainings, which further enhanced my understanding of key civil engineering principles. A huge thank you to my mentors and the Kiewit team for their support and guidance! I am so eager to begin my third year at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and dive into all of the sub-disciplines of civil engineering, and serve as the Marketing Director for Cal Poly SLO Society of Civil Engineers!

With my Senior year at Cal Poly starting tomorrow I'd like to share a few of the highlights from my summer. - Cal Poly SLO Society of Civil Engineers and I are proud to announce that the 2025 ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships will be held at Cal Poly from June 27-29, 2025. I am the chair representative of our student host committee that has been working diligently on planning this event since last November. For more information: https://lnkd.in/grdkPTHU - I attended the ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships at Brigham Young University, and got the incredible opportunity to support our Concrete Canoe and Sustainable Solutions teams as well as learn from BYU's host team in preparation for our effort. - I passed my FE Civil Exam, which is the first step in me becoming a licensed Civil Engineer! - I got the incredible opportunity to attend Simpson Strong-Tie's Fellowship Scholarship retreat where I got to connect with an incredible group of my peers from across the country. I want to thank Angel Leon, Desiree Aquino - Social Impact Leader, Writer, Tim Kaucher, P.E., Rachel Holland and the rest of the Simpson Strong-Tie team for the scholarship and the amazing experience. - Lastly, but certainly not least I completed my internship with Black & Veatch as a Structural Engineering Intern in the Transmission Line Division. I want to thank Tyler Rothbauer, PE, Leslie Hamilton and Erinn Costello for being incredible mentors this summer and for helping me become a better young engineer. The lessons I've learned from this summer will help carry me into the future and I'm very excited to see what the future holds! Thank you to everyone who has made this such a great experience!

Nicholas Mackechnie, Nicholas Gima, and Kelly Chew were all awarded scholarships as recognition of their achievement at Cal Poly!
