?? What an amazing time at last week’s California League of Park Associations (CALPA) Conference! We were thrilled to join 34 organizations along with state parks staff and dedicated partners—all working together for the future of our parks.] A big thank you to CALPA for hosting us!?Our team led advocacy and climate resilience sessions, sparking meaningful conversations about protecting and enhancing California’s state parks. We also joined a panel with the Partnerships Office and Parks California to share a two-year update on the Partnerships Study. We look forward to building on this energy and driving positive change for our parks together!

Our volunteers' work in state parks is always a masterpiece, and it seems we're not the only ones who think so! ?? At a recent Fort Ord Dunes State Park workday, a talented painter captured the impact of fellow volunteers as they cleared the walking and biking path of vegetation, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy. The best part? The native plants collected were brought to a dune restoration site to be used as mulch and a seed source, helping prevent erosion and support the ecosystem! ?? Recently, the California State Parks Foundation team gathered at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area for our quarterly offsite all-staff gathering! We spent the day together touring Jack Rabbit Beach and the community garden and spending time with park employees, Parks California, and a partner organization, Literacy for Environmental Justice. We are grateful for the time together with our partners and for this park's ongoing community engagement legacy, which has a deep-rooted history of activism. We left the day inspired to continue to work to preserve and protect these parks for the benefit of all Californians!

?? Big win for California's state parks! ?? We are thrilled to announce the passing of Proposition 4 – The Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024! With up to $10 billion in bonds authorized, our state parks are on the path to becoming more resilient against climate change. Here's what this historic win means for our cherished state parks: ?? $175 million to tackle deferred maintenance ?? $50 million for sea level rise adaptation projects ?? $200 million to create new parks and recreational spaces for local communities Our Executive Director, Rachel Norton, expressed deep gratitude: "We thank California voters for choosing to supply our state park system with desperately needed resources to make our parks more resilient to extreme weather, wildfires, and climate change. This victory is an important step in reversing years of budget cuts and ensuring a vibrant future for our beloved state parks." Thank you, California, for showing up for our state parks and choosing a climate-resilient future! Learn more with the link in the bio. #CAStateParks #@Prop4

Incredible — thank you to all organizations, volunteers, racers, and friends who came to celebrate this incredible park! Congratulations, Dorothy, for receiving the Golden Bear Award! ??
#SundaySpotlight?? As a pioneer, Dorothy Benjamin has accomplished a lot of firsts in her legendary career including implementing the Allensworth bicycle interpretive project, cellphone tours, LCD projectors and so much more throughout California State Parks. For decades, Steven Ptomey M.A. RPA has been a part of Dorothy’s groundbreaking projects and initiatives at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, and highlighted some of these accomplishments during exclusive behind the scenes footage from her receiving the Golden Bear Award at the Annual Allensworth Rededication Celebration. #LiveTheParksLife
