If it's happening in the world, it's happening at work

关于我们

Call for Culture is a Black owned, woman-owned business that exists to drive positive and bold social change by transforming organizations and leaders into conscious changemakers from the inside out. We believe that if it's happening in the world, it's happening at work - which means it's time to challenge tired leadership paradigms and empower leaders to create impactful legacies by shaping responsible, inclusive, equitable, and change-ready workplace cultures. By stepping outside of the traditional boundaries of HR, we take an actionable, multidisciplinary approach (The Call for Culture Method) to help companies, organizations, and industries hone the capabilities and strategies they need to future proof their organization and transform them into human-centered workplaces that create social impact.

Reimagining the role of workplace culture in social change. CEO & Founder @ Call for Culture. Curator: Culture Impact Lab.

When you attend a conference or event, do you know where your investment is going ? Both for yourself (am I changing or learning anything?), but also the impact of the event on people and communities? At Call for Culture's Culture Impact Lab, we're flipping the conference model on its head and centering participants and equity - not just through content and focus, but also commerce and how we re-distribute your investment (buying a ticket or sponsoring) back into historically marginalized communities, business owners, and people. We dream of creating spaces that are generative, and the *way* we curate the Culture Impact Lab is just as important as the topics we look to solve. If you're going to pay and invest $1,500 for your or your teams' development and impact in 2025, might as well make your dollars go farther. Reimagining the role of workplace culture in social change. CEO & Founder @ Call for Culture. Curator: Culture Impact Lab.

Community, Writing to you all on the other side of the 2024 Election feels like a moment of collective reflection and grief, with a sprinkle of hope. This journey for many of us has been long, filled with moments of uncertainty (or “nauseous optimism”) and an unwavering demand for change. I see you; I hear you, and I'm with you. <3 I mentioned to many of my community yesterday that, for the first time in a long time, I was unsure about where we go from here. What would a 2nd Trump presidency mean for the reality of our hopes for the country and our workplaces? How would it impact our advocacy and activism around just and equitable workplaces? And what about our community members who feel fear, angst, and hopelessness around their own opportunities and potential? I cried, I screamed, I talked to the people closest to me, and found safe spaces to process. I allowed myself to feel the emotions and the grief that set in, and I hope you did too. Once I processed some of that grief, I was able to hold two truths at once. First, there will be real and significant shifts under this presidency that will impact our world and the world of work. We need to stay responsive and ahead of them, which gives me even more clarity around what Call for Culture and the 2025 Culture Impact Lab will need to focus on in 2025 and beyond. Second, the power to influence the world of work does not lie solely with Washington. We, as communities, professionals, and leaders have the power to: ?? Shape our world and our workplaces ??Advocate for fair and just treatment ??Protect people by honoring their dignity and their rights ??Uplift one another in our practice and our work ??Hold leaders accountable for creating healthy and flourishing workplace cultures that contribute to people's well-being ??Ensure that economic opportunity remains within reach for all. Bottom line: the work does not stop here and, now more than ever, what happens in the world will indeed happen at work. In my opinion, that gap has narrowed even more significantly, and our ability to continue to be voices for change is paramount. I leave you with this: your advocacy and your leadership over the next few months might be solely focused on your well-being and joy. Please take time to fill your cup, honor yourself, and protect your peace. Meet the moment you need right now to continue the work later - we need you. ??

Brand + Culture | MSOD Candidate @ Pepperdine University

Today is Election Day, and while voting is a powerful act of participation, it’s also a day that brings up a lot of emotions. Anxiety. Tension. Hope. Uncertainty. It’s a day where we’re not just checking boxes on a ballot, but carrying the weight of what’s happening in our communities, our country, our world. As my friends at Call for Culture like to say, "If it’s happening in the world, it’s happening at work." People might not be at their best today—and that’s okay. This isn’t just another Tuesday. It’s a reminder that we all bring our whole selves to work, whether we mean to or not. So let’s give each other a little extra grace today. Let’s remember that behind every task, every meeting, every quick interaction, there’s a person who might be feeling the weight of today in ways we can’t see. Leadership isn’t just about goals and outcomes; it’s about creating space for people to be human. Today, that space might look like a little more empathy, a little more patience, a reminder that we’re all in this together. Because participation isn’t just about voting. It’s about showing up for each other—even when things feel heavy.

There is an overwhelming sense of angst leading up to the election, and I'm doing all I can gather, organize, and create spaces for the communities and spheres where I have influence. I'll be joined by Kim Clark on Nov 4th to create safe space for our communities, and you can join here: https://lnkd.in/gAUycqt8. Kim and I hosted Navigating to November over the last few months, so this is where the rubber meets the road. If you're looking to do the same at your organization, in your community, or just at home, I'm attaching a draft of what these forums can look like. Please use freely and add other elements to the shared doc below: https://lnkd.in/gHBtjChj Please credit and reference Call for Culture Angela R. Howard when citing.
