The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is leading California's efforts to achieve a 100 percent clean energy future by 2045. The Electric Planning & Market Design branch of the CPUC's Energy Division develops and oversees programs and policies to ensure that existing and new electricity resources are available to meet the State electric grid's reliability needs. We have a hybrid, limited-term Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst V position that can report to either our San Francisco, Sacramento, or Los Angeles office. Last-Mile Federal Funding Account Update! Last Wednesday, Nov. 6, Comcast California and Tulare County officials recently broke ground on a transformative $26 million last-mile broadband project to bring high-speed internet to 6,200 previously unserved homes across rural Tulare County. Community members, local leaders and representatives from the CPUC and Comcast attended the groundbreaking to mark this milestone, with a local student from Tipton Elementary School sharing her perspective on how the impact of enhanced internet access is good for her studies. https://lnkd.in/gnZaAWtS

Today, the CPUC approved $157 million in the eighth round of grants for last mile broadband projects as part of the $2 billion Last Mile Federal Funding Account grant program, which expands broadband internet access for underserved and unserved communities across California. This includes $61 million for five last-mile infrastructure grant projects in Amador and Solano Counties, benefiting approximately 10,000 Californians and $96 million for three last-mile infrastructure grant projects in Los Angeles County, benefiting approximately 1.2 million Californians.? The CPUC also approved a contingent $50 million grant from the Broadband Loan Loss Reserve Fund for Golden State Connect Authority to help expand access to reliable, affordable, high-speed broadband for rural Californians. Currently, the total amount in grants recommended and awarded is $829 million for projects in 35 counties.
