Last week, our #EnglishLearner Leadership & Legacy Initiative hosted its sixth successful EL Advocacy Institute in Riverside! Educators and professionals from various agencies within the education system came together from across the state to learn the ins and outs of advocacy in support of English learner students. Participants learned the historical context of the English Learner Movement, gained a better understanding of the system and skills to advocate at multiple levels within the system, and more. Each institute is a special experience and we are proud to play a role in the development of fierce English learner advocates dedicated to improving policy and practice in their communities and across California! So grateful to be invited to be part of ELLLI. Thank you Dr. Olsen for reminding us that together we are better, now more than ever. La lucha sigue.
An inspiring and much needed session with Dr. Laurie Olson as she takes us through the powerful journey of English Learner advocacy. Her insights, drawn from decades of dedication, remind us of the progress we’ve made, the setbacks we’ve had, and the continued fight for equity in education. This timeline is a testament to the resilience and commitment of educators, advocates, and communities striving for change. ???? #EducationAdvocacy #EnglishLearners #EnglishLearnerRoadmap #EquityInEducation #CommunitySchools #CalTog #ELLLI2024
