California Dairies, Inc. (CDI) is pleased to share the recent announcement by Elanco Animal Health?that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has completed its comprehensive, multi-year review of Bovaer? (3-NOP), a first-in-class methane-reducing feed ingredient, and determined the product meets safety and efficacy requirements for use in lactating dairy cattle. “CDI is excited about a solution for the reduction of enteric methane, which has followed the rigorous review of the FDA and created a path forward for future interventions that the entire supply chain can feel comfortable with,” said Darrin Monteiro, CDI’s Vice President of Sustainability and Member Relations. This is a critical milestone for dairy farmers, food companies, consumers, and the environment, creating value for farmers while helping meet sustainability goals. Feeding one tablespoon?of Bovaer per lactating dairy cow per day can reduce methane emissions by about 30% or approximately 1.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions annually. Cheers to 30 Years of Producing Quality Products at Tipton! We are proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Tipton milk processing facility! In 1994, it began with just 24 employees processing milk powder as a California Milk Producers facility, and today it's a key part of CDI's production of nutritional dairy products. Three original staff members who continue to work at this location were on hand to celebrate this milestone. They have seen the facility grow and change over the years, and their dedication is a true testament to our team spirit. Join us in congratulating Tipton on their 30 years of success!
