CargoNet? reports 174 significant theft events during the six-day Thanksgiving holiday window over the past five years. ?? Key Insights from CargoNet: Peak Risk: The Monday after Thanksgiving sees the highest criminal activity, often involving identity fraud. Hotspots: San Bernardino County, Los Angeles County, and Cook County are top targets. Commodities at Risk: Freight-all-kinds (FAK) shipments, hard liquor, and vehicle accessories like tires and motor oil are frequently targeted. Trends: 2024 has already seen 450+ fictitious pickup attempts, indicating more sophisticated criminal schemes. Extended closures and reduced staffing during the holiday create opportunities for theft and fraud. Let’s take proactive steps to protect our supply chain.
