Thank you Federal Maritime Commission chairman Daniel Maffei and counsel Michael Amy for taking some time to meet with a handful of Harbor Trucking Association members to discuss the comings and goings of #Drayage on the #USWC… No shortage of challenges is our on-going mantra, and it is becoming more and more clear that #Container drayage is not for the faint of heart….lol… We covered a lot of ground with the Chairman including a real definition of #Availability, the seemingly endless merry-go-round of shifting #LFDs, the perpetual lack of appointments, the innumerable improperly applied charges and the most recent cabal related to restrictions on using software to help #Truckers set appointments… The #HTA is blessed to have volunteer leaders like Robert Loya, Jorge Fernandez, Kurt Pruitt, Tom Boyle, Mark Darling and Peter Schneider ?? ?? ?? to help frame the real world challenges facing our industry and provide key decision makers with critical insight into operational constraints that limit throughput and efficiency in the #SupplyChain…. ?? Another legislative session in the books! ?? CTA members have a summary of all the action in their inboxes. It was a busy year to say the least and I'm extremely proud of the work the team at California Trucking Association did. What we were up against: - A California only underride guard mandate authored by one of the Legislature's most powerful members - Two union sponsored bills, including one that would have handed over control of intermodal chassis - An effort to keep money earmarked for improvement of trade corridors away from our highway system - A last second bill on warehouse development and truck routes - Getting our sponsored bill through the process Thank you California Trucking Association members for your support. It's not an exaggeration to say your investment in advocacy saved us hundreds of millions of dollars in new costs, legal liabilities and inefficiencies.
