The California State Firefighters' Association began in 1922, when a small group of firefighters met in Fresno to discuss the state of the fire service in California. After some discussion, it was decided that the very best way to serve the public and firefighters was to form an organization to work towards enacting laws to protect the public from fire and to improve working conditions for firefighters. As a result of that first conference, the California State Firefighters' Association, Inc. was born. From this initial gathering, a membership of more than 24,000 has grown. Members include paid, volunteer, military and industrial firefighters, members of the California Department of Forestry, United States Forest Disaster Office, Office of Emergency Services (Fire and Rescue Division), State Fire Marshal's Office, State Fire Service and Training Program and California state-employed firefighters. Time has proven that a consolidated effort of California's fire service through CSFA has helped all its branches. From this initial gathering, a membership of more than 24,000 has grown. Members include paid, volunteer, military and industrial firefighters, members of the California Department of Forestry, United States Forest Disaster Office, Office of Emergency Services (Fire and Rescue Division), State Fire Marshal's Office, State Fire Service and Training Program and California state-employed firefighters.

Images from Day 2 of our 2024 City of Hemet Fire Department’s Girl’s Empowerment Camp that was held this past weekend. Our young ladies continued to learn various firefighting skills from our engaged mentors who represented the HFD, and other fire departments including San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Fire Station 5 Camp Pendleton Fire Department Morongo Fire Department along with support from the California State Firefighters' Association. The CSFA Nor Cal Fire Explorer Muster was recently held on September 28th at the El Dorado Hills Fire Training Center. It was a tremendous event thanks to the hard work and commitment from our partner fire agencies, our sponsors, our event volunteers, our vendors and attendees, and of course the amazing young men and women who competed in the muster! Thank you to our California State Firefighters' Association team, Chief Maurice Johnson, Cristy Jorgensen, @Chief Chad Wilson, Chief Adam House, Chief Daniel Berlant, Chief Ken Cusano, Chief and for all the fire service members who ensured this will be an annual event. Day 1 of the City of Hemet Fire Department’s Girls Empowerment Camp is in the books! Day 2 is today, and will be kicking off this morning with a safety briefing and some physical training. Our young attendees had a great day that included participating in various fire and EMS activities, building teamwork skills, and receiving guidance and support from our amazing mentors. There are so many people to thank but some big ones include HFD FF/PM Samantha Harper, BC Laura Axcell, DC Ryan Webb, MSP, CFO, the HFFA, the men and women of the Hemet Fire & Life Safety Agency, the California State Firefighters' Association, Brandy C., and our amazing volunteers who represented several So Cal fire departments.
