The?Training of Trainers (ToT)?on November 7th-9th in Oakland brought together 19 key leaders from the out-of-school time (OST) field, representing 13 organizations across California, including After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles, Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), BEStwenty4, Brea Olinda Unified School District, California Teaching Fellows Foundation, City of Mill Valley - Mill Valley Recreation, City of Sacramento - YPCE, EduCare Foundation, Girls Inc. of Alameda County, Woodcraft Rangers, YMCA of the East Bay, Yu Ming Charter School. Over the course of three immersive days, participants strengthened their leadership and facilitation skills while deepening their expertise in critical areas such as ethics, equity, and the differences between child and adult learning. The event not only provided valuable training but also sparked a spirit of determination, ensuring participants were primed to make a lasting impact in their local areas. ? ?? Reminder: ELO-P Expenditure Reports Due Tomorrow, Oct 31st! If an LEA doesn’t submit the report by Oct 31st, they will forfeit all FY 21-22 and 22-23 funds (even if funds have already been spent). IMPORTANT California Department of Education UPDATE! AB-176 Education finance: education omnibus budget trailer bill has passed the legislature and has made it to the governor’s desk. It is expected to be signed, which would put it into effect immediately. This trailer bill outlines changes to the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) including Expenditure Report Deadlines. For the 2021-22 and 2022-23 FYs, local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to submit an expenditure report to the CDE after the September 30, 2024 expenditure deadline. The report is due October 31, 2024. A local educational agency that does not submit the final expenditure report shall forfeit all funds allocated for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 FYs. CalSAC was thrilled to host a?Leadership Intensive Retreat (LIR)?for the?Woodcraft Rangers?from October 17th to 19th, welcoming 27 leaders in the out-of-school time field. During the retreat, attendees deepened their understanding of leadership while enhancing their knowledge of essential management concepts, skills, and strategies for their roles. They also developed personal and team leadership action plans to ensure practical application of their learning.
