The California Park & Recreation Society was founded in 1946, CPRS is a nonprofit, professional and public interest organization with over 4,000 members who create community by: - providing recreational experiences to individuals, families and communities - fostering human development - promoting health and wellness - increasing cultural unity - facilitating community problem solving - protecting natural resources - strengthening safety and security - strengthening community image and sense of place - supporting economic development CPRS membership is well-distributed, with 86 percent of park and recreation agencies in California boasting at least one CPRS individual member. In addition, over 175 park and recreation agencies are themselves CPRS members.

    It has been nearly a year since I joined the California Park & Recreation Society HQ team. I am feeling a lot of gratitude for the people, choices and experiences that led to this opportunity. I'm thinking back to what must have been the hottest day of the summer last year when Stephanie Stephens met up with me for coffee, after which I was invited to a second interview -- I didn't even know the first interview had happened! ?? Since joining the CPRS team, I have felt like I'm in the right place, with the right people, doing the right thing. Thank you to the CPRS members, volunteers, leaders, and staff for welcoming me as I am. ??

    Gratitude post! This past month has brought so many heart filling moments, it's hard to put it all into words... Sending many 'Stef hugs' to: The entire #cprs HQ team! Your creativity and collaborative spirits make every day at the office a great day! Thank you for putting up with my crazy ideas and for the laughs and tasty treats at my 10 year workiversary celebration! All my #calsae peers! Honoring me with the Executive of the Year award is truly a highlight of my career! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you (and learn from you!) as a board member these past 5 years. The #cprs Board and each and every #cprs member! YOU are the reason I LOVE what I do! Thank you for the fun surprise zoom workiversary party and lovely charcuterie board. But mostly, thank you for being the amazing people you are - for your communities, for CPRS, and for me, too! My heart is indeed full... love you all!
