Happy #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth! ?? Today, we learned about the incredible impact of our Tribal Nature-Based Solutions Program. This year, in partnership with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the California Ocean Protection Council, we awarded $107.7 million to 33 projects and supported the return of nearly 39,000 acres of land to California Native American #tribes! These projects and tribal leadership are essential to help reach our #30X30CA goals and address the climate and biodiversity crisis. It may be raining in Northern California, but our work to protect communities from wildfire is far from over! ?? Yesterday we joined partners at a San Diego home that is being retrofitted to be ‘hardened’ against wildfire as part of the California Wildfire Mitigation Program, led by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and California Governor's Office of Emergency Services. This program is just one example of California’s effort to strengthen community-wide resilience against wildfires thanks to leadership from Governor Newsom and the legislature. #California #WildfireResilience
