关于我们
The California National Primate Research Center (CNPRC) is improving health and advancing science with interdisciplinary programs in biomedical research on significant human medical conditions throughout the lifespan. Research at the CNPRC is leading to new diagnostics, therapeutics, and clinical procedures that enhance quality of life for both humans and animals. The CNPRC is an Organized Research Unit of the University of California, Davis and part of the National Primate Research Centers Program at the National Institutes of Health.

The California National Primate Research Center (CNPRC) Pilot Program invites Letters of Intent for pilot project proposals to support basic and translational research using nonhuman primates (rhesus macaques or titi monkeys) for the 2025-2026 base grant funding period. Pilot projects that address biomedical/translational research topics across the nonhuman primate lifespan and include topics addressed in CNPRC scientific research unit areas (Cardiorespiratory Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Neuroscience and Behavior, Reproductive Sciences and Regenerative Medicine) are requested. Applicants are encouraged to utilize services offered in CNPRC Cores: https://lnkd.in/gxXbYACv Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the following: ? Developmental and high-risk studies with the potential for gaining key insights into basic processes that will have high translational impact. ? Projects that propose new multidisciplinary teams with the inclusion of trainees. ? Investigations that leverage samples or data available including archived biospecimens to obtain necessary information to support proceeding to in vivo studies. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must have Principal Investigator (PI) status from a federally recognized institution. Project scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and non-academic titles may not serve as PI on applications but can participate as co-investigators or trainees. Submissions from early-stage investigators new to nonhuman primate research are particularly encouraged. You are invited to Sahaya International’s 25th Anniversary event on Saturday, November 2, at the Veterans Memorial Theater in Davis. Sahaya International is a Davis-based nonprofit organization founded by CNPRC researcher Koen Van Rompay. The organization's research was performed here at CNPRC, and most of its founders and earliest board members were CNPRC employees! Learn more by listening to a recent interview by Koen Van Rompay where he talks about the organization and event on local radio station KRDT:?https://lnkd.in/grxf-__Z For the past 25 years, Sahaya International has been supporting community development, education, and conservation programs in developing countries (including India, Uganda, Kenya, Vietnam, and the Philippines). To learn more, visit www.sahaya.org or watch the short documentary “Sahaya Going Beyond” (narrated by Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons) at https://vimeo.com/65517422 Tickets are FREE?but are required as the seating capacity of the venue is limited.?To reserve tickets and/or support, visit https://lnkd.in/gUEkmQhH Be prepared for an evening of inspiration and hope. The event will include the screening of the new documentary “The Journey Home- the story of Sahaya Vietnam” (narrated by Hollywood actor Paul Dano), cultural performances, and testimonials. Special guest speakers include Andy Lauer (Hollywood director and actor), Durai Selvam (founder of partner organization READ in India), and?Sahaya founder Dr. Koen Van Rompay.

Treating anxiety, depression and other disorders may depend on the amygdala, a part of the brain that controls strong emotional reactions, especially fear. But a deep understanding of this structure has been lacking. Now scientists at the University of California, Davis and the California National Primate Research Center have identified new clusters of cells with differing patterns of gene expression in the amygdala of humans and non-human primates. The work could lead to more targeted treatments for disorders such as anxiety that affect tens of millions of people. https://lnkd.in/gpHM32rv
