Helping farmworkers build their skills to meet the demands of a changing job market is a priority for the Labor Agency under Secretary Stewart Knox and Gov. Gavin Newsom. The Labor Agency has taken another step toward carrying out reforms to the Private Attorneys General Act signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. https://lnkd.in/gwnUvz5C Changes include a new process where small employers can cure wage and hour violations, reducing time and court costs for all parties and allowing workers to quickly be made whole. These new cure processes are now in effect as of October 1, 2024. Small employers may file cure proposals, and all employers may file wage statement cures (for violations of Labor Code section 226 only), https://dir.govfa.net/392.

$22.5 million in grants approved for 71 apprenticeship programs that will train 18,000+ California workers in the skilled trades. Such apprenticeships are a key part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Jobs First Initiative, which emphasizes earn and learn programs that equip Californians with the skills needed to excel in the modern economy.
