Projects like their Mojave Micro Mill show how we can grow our regional economies while simultaneously taking action on climate and improving public health – all key pillars of California Jobs First. In California, we are doubling down on innovative technologies to create jobs and ensure our roads, bridges and hospitals are built with cleaner materials made right here in California.

With an economy as diverse as California's, working?to solve the needs of?all strategic sectors and more than thirty subsectors, all at once, has the?potential to limit our impact.? With that in mind,?we have?identified four pilot sectors and subsectors as a?launch point to develop a model for accelerating industry attraction and?expansion. We’re?committed to continuing to help regions execute their strategic?priorities. Over the next two years,?we’ll?focus on these four pilot sectors?and subsectors to show that our approach can drive impact and make a?real difference. By 2035,?we’ll?expand to the remaining sectors and keep?driving positive change.

Agriculture has key position in California Jobs First Economic Blueprint Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom announces a blueprint that is driven by local input from 13 regions across the state California Jobs First invests in key sectors, including agriculture, to drive sustainable economic growth, innovation, and access to good-paying jobs. “This is by far the most comprehensive strategy for helping to drive sustainable economic growth, innovation, and access to good-paying jobs in agriculture,” added Secretary Karen Ross. “It’s about bringing not just state but more importantly, local involvement, working side-by-side to advance strategic sectors that will ensure rural communities are not left behind. The California Jobs First Economic Blueprint is the result of unprecedented collaboration between nine state?agencies, working together to create a bold vision for?California’s workforce and economy. We extend our?gratitude to the California Jobs First Council—the leaders?and innovators behind this transformative effort. Their?dedication and expertise have shaped a plan focused on job?creation, equity and sustainability.

Through collaboration amongst the Employment Development Department, California Labor & Workforce Development Agency, California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), and the Jobs First Council, $15 million in grant solicitation is available for the Tribal?Investment Initiative.?These funds are intended to support?tribal-led economic development planning. Tribal communities are on the frontlines of climate change,?which threatens their ancestral lands, food sources,?cultural heritage, and sacred ways of life. For generations,?Tribal communities have faced chronic underinvestment,?and climate impacts—including drought, wildfires, rising?sea levels, and extreme weather events—deepening?existing challenges and inequities.?California is committed to addressing these challenges by?fostering meaningful consultation and collaboration while?respecting Tribal sovereignty and self-governance.
