The ISO is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that operates the majority of California's wholesale power grid.
关于我们
The California Independent System Operator (ISO) manages the flow of electricity across the high-voltage, long-distance power lines that make up 80 percent of California's power grid. We safeguard the economy and well-being of 30 million Californians by "keeping the lights on" 24/7. As the impartial grid operator, the California ISO opens access to the wholesale power market that is designed to diversify resources and lower prices. It also grants equal access to 25,865 circuit-miles of power lines and reduces barriers to diverse resources competing to bring power to customers. The California ISO's function is often compared to that of air traffic controllers. It would be grossly unfair for air traffic controllers to represent one airline and profit from allowing that company's planes to go through before others. In the same way, the California ISO operates independently—managing the electron traffic on a power grid we do not own—making sure electricity is safely delivered to utilities and consumers on time and reliably.

The California ISO has released its draft 2024-2025 Transmission Plan, recommending 31 total projects costing an estimated $4.8 billion at full buildout. The vast majority of the projects are needed to strengthen reliability, meet load growth and adapt to changing grid conditions. ? Read the news release ?? https://ow.ly/A1GZ50VswbK

Our U.S. team recently visited California ISO to gain deeper insights into the technical requirements and approval process for Remote Intelligent Gateways (RIGs)—essential for connecting new generation plants to the #CAISO grid? . During the visit, we met with experts in reliability coordination, network modeling, and stakeholder affairs, gathering key information on data and operational requirements to ensure seamless and efficient integration. This milestone strengthens our U.S. strategy, enabling us to develop CAISO-compliant RIG solutions that optimize market participation and streamline the onboarding process for new assets ?? . #BluenceRevolution #energysoftware #software #gridintegration #CAISO #renewableenergy #energytransition Isotrol

The Berkeley POWER conference at University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business is one of my favorite days of the year. The marriage of academia and industry breeds creative perspectives on price formation and incentives for expanding transmission and clean energy capacity. As an industry professional, I get to add constructive counterfactual experience and color to move the conversation forward. My favorite part is the students. The students are an indelible source of inspiration (and already better at this than us). Runner up highlights include color coded regression tables, humorously titled econometric methods, and spicey opinions on the rhetoric of GHG accounting. Grateful to California ISO for supporting the effort and sending me every year.

We had a great time hosting our partners from the California Independent System Operator yesterday for a tour of our facilities and to talk about our work in the Yuba River watershed! California ISO is a nonprofit agency that manages the flow of electricity across more than 80 percent of the state’s energy grid. As a wholesale power provider, we sell our hydropower to the California ISO energy market, helping to support California’s clean energy goals. The tour was a fantastic opportunity for some of our teams to connect and for our partners to learn more about our work to reduce Yuba County's flood risk, sustainably manage our water supplies and more. Thanks for visiting!
