Tomorrow morning, at the 2025 California DxF Summit in Sacramento, I will discuss the state's vision for expanding data exchange with Kiran Savage-Sangwan, executive director of California Pan-Ethnic Health Network, and Jonah Frohlich, senior managing director of Manatt Health. Data exchange is far more than a technical challenge — it's a critical pathway to creating a more equitable health system. When information flows seamlessly between providers, we can better serve all Californians, particularly those with low incomes who have historically faced the greatest barriers to care. Coordinated health information systems are essential for delivering whole-person care. When providers can access complete patient information, care improves and costs decrease. The next step in developing effective data exchange is to implement a governance structure that ensures accountability and long-term sustainability. I look forward to discussing how better data exchange can help close persistent health equity gaps across our state while making health care more affordable and accessible.
