This week California Energy Commission held a workshop to listen to experts talk about integrating non-energy benefits and social costs considerations into their planning and decision making. Among the presenters were the Leadership Counsel for Justice & Accountability, Local Clean Energy Alliance, California Environmental Justice Alliance and RMI. Today #CalEnergy launches HEEHRA, the statewide Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program funded by the Inflation Reduction Act. ?? California’s rollout of HEEHRA Phase I provides ?? $80 million in rebates to income-qualified households to help make more California homes efficient and electric.? Applications open today to owners of multifamily properties! Up to $14,000 in rebates per residential unit in a multifamily property are available for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, electric stoves, heat pump dryers, and other electric equipment and appliances. ?? Last week I had the privilege to attend two community events focused on educating local communities on clean energy and mobility: I joined California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) Director Tara Lynn Gray in Fresno at the first-ever Clean Mobility Summit that was hosted by the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce. The event brought together businesses, non-profits, and funding agencies to engage with the community and share information on the transition to zero-emission transportation. FMBCC, the Clean Share Mobility Network, and Biz-Werx also launched a ride-share program that offers 30 EVs and 200 e-bikes for public use. I enjoyed talking with Bob Thomason from OK Produce about their commitment to ZE transportation driven by sustainability.??? I also attended Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Customer EmPOWERment day at the CENTER OF HOPE in Inglewood. Attendees were able to engage with SCE and the VILLAGE SOLUTIONS FOUNDATION to get information on clean energy programs and other ways to help reduce their carbon footprint while also saving money. ?? I appreciate SCE’s leadership in working with different community and faith-based organizations to support an inclusive transition to a clean energy/transportation future for all. The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Unit of the Passenger Electric Vehicles Technologies and Infrastructure Branch is responsible for managing FTD-related light-duty incentive projects and executing other special projects.
