?? Each year, the California Energy Commission hosts the Clean Energy Hall of Fame Awards to celebrate exceptional individuals/organizations who are driving California’s clean energy future. ? Last year, one awardee was Keith Fisher, a teacher at Calexico High School who teaches students how to build and maintain electric vehicles in his advanced auto shop class. The class is part of the Green Pathways Initiative which helps prepare students for careers in renewable energy and environmental sustainability.?The picture below is of his current students with a fully electric 1963 Volkswagen that was converted by his previous class. ?? Every year I look forward to celebrating and honoring leaders in clean energy, equity, environmental justice, and innovation and this year is no different! This week, #CalEnergy launched the single-family component of the program, which is funded by the Inflation Reduction Act. Rebates for owners of single- and multifamily homes are the first phase of the program rollout in the state. ?? Clean energy leaders from across the state were on hand for the 10th annual Electric Program Investment Charge?(EPIC) Symposium. EPIC is California’s premier clean energy research and development program.?According to an EPIC report, more than $750 million has been awarded for building decarbonization projects, grid decarbonization and decentralization, industrial and agricultural innovation, and low-carbon transportation projects since the program’s inception.? “So, this is really seed planting for the future,” said California Energy Commission (CEC) Chair David Hochschild. “I think we should all take that as a point of great pride because the things that get created here with EPIC funding can go on and do great things”? ? The joint symposium was hosted by the CEC, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison (SCE), and San Diego Gas & Electric, in partnership with the California Public Utilities Commission.
