Emergency Department (ED) care for dental-related emergencies is extremely costly, however many parents wait until the acute onset of sequelae before seeking care in the ED. Authors of the research article, ‘Demographic Factors Associated with Antibiotic Use for Patients Undergoing Extraction of Primary Teeth in the Emergency Department’ seek to understand demographic factors associated with antibiotic use for patients undergoing extraction of primary teeth in the ED setting. They explore if identifying patients at risk for ED use for routine care, as well as providing follow-up resources can prevent repeated visits. Check out their findings and recommendations for future studies: https://hubs.ly/Q02ZmqDF0
